Kirstine & Inge Lise Nikolajsen's "Tatted Handkerchiefs"
Kirstine and Inge Nikolajsen's useful new book of edgings for handkerchiefs has a full dozen interesting patterns. Presented in diagram format with matching photos each edging has a corner motif; some are designed for scalloped hankys and others could be adapted for many purposes. Simple ring and chain repeats which can be completed in one pass are followed by multi-round deep edgings and some motifs just for corners are included. A delightful book with many hours of tatting pleasure.
Nikolajsen is a name well known to tatters. Their series of tatting books is called "ORKIS" and book 1 is out of print. DMC recently produced a translation of it which has little text and good diagrams. Their hardback book "Den 3. Orkisborg" is filled with traditional style tatting patterns and extra large instructional illustrations.
