"A Labor of Love"
Tatting Beyond the Basics
by Lily Qualls Morales

Lily Morales' earliest memory of her grandmother was watching her tat. She recalls the shuttles flying fast between her hands and lace coming out the side. Lily herself did not learn to tat until many years later. Learning needle tatting first helped Lily to master shuttle tatting rapidly. And, eventually, Lily was able to reproduce one of her grandmother's doilies. This doily is featured prominently on the cover of Lily's first book, "A Labor of Love: Tatting Beyond the Basics."

Many basic techniques are illustrated in the first portion of the book as well as some unique joining methods and finishing techniques (Hiding Ends.) The back cover illustrates the wide variety of excellent tatting projects packed in this pattern book. Particularly charming are the Split Ring "Mock-Motif" Needle Book and The Jessica Rose-ary.

Lily Morales is a frequent contributor to the online tatting class and her modernization of an antique Riego pattern was published in Lace Magazine International. Tatters of all skill levels will enjoy this delightful first book!
