This is an intriguing second book of tatting patterns created by Mary Maynard of Laramie, Wyoming. A left-handed tatter of many years experience, Mary holds a BS degree in Textiles and Merchandising. In her new book she has combined her love of tatting and a deep friendship with a tatter with many decades of experience and created an inspiration for tatters. |

The concept behind the book is simple. Tatted lace created by a basic pattern; the 4 Square ring. Mary explains it this way: |

Traditionally shaped doilies take on new form and interest with her creative use of negative space to incorporate spirals, pinwheels, and diamonds into the pattern. Planned increases allow the simple repeating ring and chain pattern to take on whole new looks. |
The "Granny Afghan" receates a look long-favored by quilters and crocheters alike. But surely the most intriguing project of all is the "Ripple Afghan." These chevron stripes are just begging to be tatted! And if the large yarn tatting needles are used you could indeed make a full size afghan in a short time.
From her friend "Scotty", Mary learned to ask herself "What if??" and now her book will have us questioning the ordinary and familiar patterns and asking "What if I changed this...?" Here are projects and inspiration to last a tatter's lifetime.
