Heidi Nakayama's "Tatting Shuttles of American Collectors"

Please visit Heidi's new website is: http://tattingshuttles.weebly.com/

Heidi Nakayama has spent over 12 years researching the history of American tatting shuttles. Her book (6"x9" or 15 x23 cm) is a soft cover book with 144 pages and 12 vividly colored plates featuring wonderful shuttles of all styles and materials. Over 300 shuttles are illustrated dating from the mid-nineteenth through the twentieth century.

This is the first definite study of the tatting shuttle in America and will be an excellent resource for lace historians, tatting shuttles and needlework accessories collectors. This reference tool should be in every tatter's library.

Here is a sample page showing the commentary which accompanies each shuttles. Photos and vintage illustrations from catalogs are the clue to the origin of many tatting shuttles.

This was my favorite among the many wonderful shuttles featured in 12 color plates.
