Butterick's Tatting & Netting 1896 Reprint

Gentle Tatters,

This is the 1896 Butterick publication of Tatting and Netting. It is 150 pages. Bound copies with plastic protective cover are available for sale.

(Note: The 75 page tatting section only was reprinted in 1999 by Handy Hands Tatting, Barbara Foster ed., under the title "Old Fashioned Tatting Patterns Book 1". It is available directly from Handy Hands. It is a regular softcover bound edition.)

However, the second portion (74 pages) of this 1896 pattern book is filled with wonderful and challenging designs in netting. It begins with the basics of creating netted grounds which bobbin lacers will recognize immediately as well as larger designs for actual fish netting and hammocks. It goes on to create the most delicate of cobweb designs in the form of doilies, edgings, insertions and apparel.

Also included is a ten page section on guipure with both simple and intricate designs for darned netting and needleweaving.

All three sections are available singly or as one book.
