Lene Bjorn's 32 page booklet (6" x 8") contains 24 6-pt snowflake patterns. So if you start right on December 1 you can tat a snowflake a day to decorate your Christmas tree with lots of fluffy flakes. The snowflake is one of the most common of motifs but this set is a level above the ordinary. There are many varied techinques used to create the snowflakes, such all one shuttle work, classic rosette centers, multi-layered picoted chains, crowned rings, bicolor block tatting, floating rings, Josephine knots, rick rack tatting (node stitch or twisted chain), and beads, too! Included also are a series of diagrams illustrating the tied mock picot, a method adding a bead (not previously strung on the thread) to the shuttle 2 thread, block tatting, bicolor block tatting, scmr, and split chain. |
The 4th Book of Patterns by Lyn Morton (A4 size, 20 pages) has four color plates featuring 20 tatting patterns. These motifs are designed particularly for use on greeting cards. Stars, rings with unusual picot placements and flowers of all kinds. Most intriguing was a 6 petal round motif where the chains are joined in a fashion to create 6 hearts and flowers. Several sizes and designs are adaptable for those greeting cards with cutout windows. Gift and greeting card in one! These patterns will brighten many birthdays and holiday occasions. |
