1. Needle coming UP from back side, under "waistband"

2. After first stitch, front side view

3. After second stitch, back view
4. Up from back side again, front view
5. After 8 "stitches", going through a total of 4 ds, front and back, front view

6. After "popping" -- front side view. See how the yellow "end" disappears into the stitches.
