mIRC 5.91 Tammy's Way

This is how I set up mIRC the first time for the international classroom if you go through and do all the steps the first time correctly then they should stay programmed so that you will not need to re-do them for the next class in this same location. I have used this version of this program in Win98, Win98SE, WinXP, WinXPSE I believe I may have even used it in Win95 but am not completely sure on that.
The first time you open mIRC 5.91 you will see something like this. You will get this look every time you open mIRC this is called the 'nag screen' click the red X in the top right corner of the nag screen to close it.
This is the next screen you will see is mIRC Options connect screen. As you see I have entered my information in the appropriate locations. You need to do the same with your information. Once you have done that please click on the add button on the top right.

I have a special request when you sign in for tatting class and go to put in your nickname could you please add one of the following:

-N (for those wanting to learn needle tatting)
-S (for those wanting to learn shuttle tatting)
-B (for those wanting to learn both)
No extra marking for those that feel you are past a beginner.
Examples:

You will now see the mIRC Add Server window enter the information exactly as shown in the picture to the right and then click the add button.

(Note there is no password needed)

You are now back to the mIRC Options connect screen however you will see that the Servers information shows SIMPLYSPACE this is what we want. Now click the ok button on the bottom left.
Now we are to the main window! You will need to click on the lightning bolt to connect that is under the word file in the top left.
Now we have the mIRC Channels Folder please click Add.
Fill out the mIRC Channel window as shown here and then click OK.
Now you will use the scroll bar to locate #tatchat in the list of channels highlight it by clicking on it and then click Join.

(Note: you can delete any of the channels by highlighting them and clicking the delete button.)

We are in the classroom!! Do you see how it has the tab that shows #tatchat? I like to make the classroom page nice and large do normally I click the maximize button on that top most page in its top right corner its the square between the - and X.
Next time you come to class....

if everything was setup correctly to begin with all you have to do it....

Close the nag screen by clicking the red X.

Make sure your information is correct and SIMPLYSACE is showing as we programed click OK.

Click the lightning bolt under the word File to connect.

Scroll if needed to find the #tatchat channel, highlight, and click Join.

See you in class!
