Camelia Crapo Design appears in Lace Magazine International!

Appearing in issue #54 of the Lace Magazine International is a wonderfully versatile lace pattern by our own Camelia Crapo. This collar, designed originally for her sister, Michelle, can be varied for many other looks such as a camisole insert, doll's collar and even a fashion necklace. Here is a sneak peek at the cover which features the full collar:

Congratulations to Camelia! Her first book of patterns, which is titled "Tat and Sassy!" is in preparation.

LMi Membership included four quarterly magazine issues. New subscriptions always started with the spring issue of the current calendar year. It is no longer published. The magazine was closed when the editor, Lieve Jerger retired.

The website may still exist: Lace Magazine International

The secret project of tatting models of Camelia's design to be submitted to LMI began in 2003. Eight tatters graciously volunteered their time to work on the design. Each was randomly assigned a thread (various sizes were used) and some were given beads, too. Basic diagrams and basic stitch counts were sent but a lot was left up to the tatter's experience. (LMI had the choice of selection for which pieces to be used in the layout.) Here are some sample test photos of their work:

Skye Weber using creamy ecru thread in size 20 with cream colored size 11 beads.

Heather Savage using size 80 black ombre thread.

Lauren Snyder using size 80 thread in red with gold beads size 14.

LaRae Mikulecky using size 20 thread in lavender variegated (Manuela #204) with irridescent beads size 11.

Beth Zipayusing size 20 thread in variegated lavender/teal (Manuela #203) with metallic multicolor beads size 11.

Janet Fentonusing size 80 thread in pale turquoise with brilliant turquoise beads size 14.

Stephanie Whittingtonusing large gold and white metallic threads.

Lily Moralesusing large thread in black with a holographic filament and jewelry findings including satin cord and dragon pendant.

Many thanks to all the volunteers!
