This "Magic Mirror" for tatters is a device to aid tatters in designing tatted pieces in the round, square, triangle or rectangle shapes. The kit contains a hinged mirror and five plastic templates.

The designer sets up the mirror and inserts a template which is marked to yield 3, 4, 5, 6 or 8 repeats in the design. The small motifs or larger sections of actual tatted lace or multiple copies of original lace are placed in the viewing field until a pleasing arrangement is found.

A quick snap shot with a digital camera or a few minute with paper and pencil gives the designer a idea of the finished piece and how the tatted elements would join together. After that it is just a matter of winding shuttles, threading up needles and tatting away!
