Recently this butterfly caused quite a flutter when it was offered for sale on Ebay. A beautiful piece of tatting and an elegant design it was originally published in Woman's Day, December 1947. The designer of the pattern was Virginia Savage.

Being under copyright still the written directions may not be posted. However, Terry McGuffin has created a set of original diagrams marked with the DS count so that we may all reproduce this graceful tatted butterfly. Thread size 50 was suggested for use in the pattern. Many thanks to Terry!
