Tatter's First Project

Monday, August 27, 2001 8:30PM ET is the last of the summer review classes hosted by Joy. Many thanks for all your hard work. Newbies will never forget her introduction to tatting! Joy has even persuaded a couple of tatters to share their first projects with the online tatting class. Brave souls, I thought to myself. But a teacher should never ask for what they would not do themselves, so here you see AKTATTER's very first doily in all its glory.

Note the uneven tension in the outer chains and the bulges where the chain was not snugged up before the join. And note, too, that AK had not yet learned to make the work all right side up. And, yes, horror of horrors, you might even spot the knot where the first round was CUT and TIED (oh the shame of it all :) Well, I've come a long way since then and every newbie goes through the same challenges. If you stick with the online tatting class, maybe you can avoid some of the pitfalls the rest of us fell into way back when... New classes start about mid-Sept.
