Pumpkin Vine Edging

Sample made with DMC Perle Cotton size 8 measures ¾ inch tall by 1½ inches between pattern repeats.

Suggestions:
2 shuttles: orange and green threads
Use a tiny crochet hook (approx size 16) for the shuttle joins on the big pumpkins
Compress all chains firmly before joining

Starting with small ring:
R 6 ds, p, 6 ds, close ring, reverse work
Ch 6 ds, p, 6 ds, reverse work
*R 14 ds, close ring (center of big pumpkin) reverse work
Shoelace trick to swap shuttles (use orange as working thread)

Working clockwise around big pumpkin center,
Ch 12, shuttle join to bar of bottom ds of big pumpkin,
Ch 12, shuttle join to top of pumpkin, (cross in front of pumpkin)
Ch 9, join to previous small ring,
Ch 9, join to bottom of pumpkin,
Ch 9, p, Ch 9, join to top of pumpkin
Turn work around, which changes green thread to working thread, join through into bar of last green stitch on vine (to avoid a gap).
Resume Chain:
Ch 6 ds, p, 6 ds, reverse work
R 6 ds, join to last p of big pumpkin, 6 ds, close ring
Shoelace trick to reverse shuttles, make small ring opposite previous small ring, 6 ds, p, 6 ds, close ring, reverse work
Ch 6 ds, p, 6 ds, reverse work
R 6 ds, join to p of previous small ring, 6 ds, close ring, reverse work
Shoelace trick to reverse shuttles, make small ring opposite previous small ring, 6 ds, p, 6 ds, close ring, reverse work
Ch 6 ds, p, 6 ds, reverse work
Repeat from * until edging is desired length
