Nina Libin - Beaded Necklace (Shuttle Tatting)

The Online Tatting Class welcomes Nina Libin. Nina shares her design for a beaded necklace with directions for both shuttle and needle tatting. Many thanks.

Two color necklace - bnl016

The pattern has been designed for two shuttles, for needle tatting the pattern is the same, just make sure that all the beads in proper order are on the ball thread.

You will need 12 -13 yards of DMC # 20 thread,
424 (430) light color seed beads #9 and 157 (160) Iris blue 3-cuts.
Fold those 12 - 13 yards of thread in two,
mark the center with a loose overhand knot, and 'needle' both tails.

For shuttle A string:
[10 + 5 ·] only once, and [13 + 5 ·] 17 times. This number of beads is enough for an 18" necklace.
For shuttle B string:
[4 ·+ 11 ] 17 times. This number of beads is enough for an 18" necklace.

Load of thread on shuttle A and on shuttle B
with all the beads strung for each shuttle.

Symbols used through the pattern:

= white seed bead
· = dark seed bead
// = shape, tighten & turn upside down
^ = lock join to the previous chain
~ = switch the shuttles
