Ice Crystal Snowflake by Saundra Hameed

Looks like this week is beginning with a regular blizzard of snowflakes. Here are the directions for Saundra's Snowflake. Although the placement of the beads is not indicated feel free to addanywhere! Many thanks to Saundra for sharing with the online tatting class!


ICE CRYSTAL SNOWFLAKE

R = ring
CH = chain
- or p = picot
SR = split ring
CLR = close ring

Round 1
R 4 + (join to last picot of previous ring) 4 - 4 - 4 (note: the first ring will NOT be joined to previous ring)
CH 4 - 4 - 4 - 4
Repeat these two rows a total of 6 times.
Joint last chain to base of first ring.

Round 2
Attach thread to center picot of any chain in Round 1.
CH 4 - 4 - 4 (R 3 - 3 - 3 - 3) 4 - 4 - 4
Join to same center picot in chain of first round *SR 4 + (to last picot of previous chain) 4 / 4 + (to next picot in chain of first round) 4
Do not reverse.
CH 2 - 2 Do not reverse.
SR 4 - 4 / 4 + (to next picot in chain of first round) 4, CLR Do not reverse
Join to next center picot on chain of first round.
CH 4 + (to free picot on previous SR) 4 - 4 (R 3 - 3 - 3 - 3) 4 - 4 - 4
Join to same center picot as last SR.
Repeat from * (5 more times)
SR 4 + 4 / 4 + 4
CH 2 - 2
R 4 + (to first picot on first chain) 4 + (to center picot in chain of first round) 4 + (to free picot in chain of first round) 4, CLR Tie, cut, hide ends.
