Bettina's Snowflake in Spring!

Note:
It is possible to tat the first and second rounds in one pass if the sixth center ring is a split ring and climbs out into a block. However, the third round connects to the blocks and not to a picot. And the block ends facing inward not outward. Adding an extra chain to the last block would allow you to climb out but the pattern would be off. The third row can be tatted in one pass using split rings and you can climb out at a block and do the last two finishing rounds as well.


Center Flower = 6 rings 6 + 4 - 4 - 6 cl (connect rings to each other)

Round 2
*Split Ring = 6 / 6
Block = do just the first half of the stitch, picot, 6 + to picot of a flower, (turn half stitch,picot, 6 + to p) 4 times repeat from * around join to first Split Ring made.


Round 3
Work 6 flowers as in first round and connect them to the upper picots of the second round’s squares.


Bettina makes these six flowers separately and then fills in the split ring joining them together in the next round. You may do either way but using the split ring in round 3 eliminates many tails to hide.


Round 4
Split Ring = 5 - 5 / 10 and shuttle join thread to the picot of the flower
CH 10, lock join (shuttle join) CH 10 work block as described in 2nd round and before working the next chain, make a picot.

Round 5
Work a small ring 6 - 6 and join it to the Split Ring of round 4
CH 20 lock join (shuttle join) to the edge of a block
CH 8
block = half stitch, picot, 4
joint to square of round 4
turn, half stitch, picot, 4, joint to upper picot
work small ring 3 - 3
CH 4 join to picot
CH 8 join to edge of block of round 4
CH 20
small ring 6 - 6 join to picot of split ring and repeat around.
