Here are a few patterns which we have used over the years. If breast cancer threatens someone close to you, please tat one up and send it to them today. Tat a bunch and share with all.

Double Ten!!!
In many cultures the tenth day of the tenth month is considered a lucky day. And luckily for us, Erin Holloway-Moseley is sharing her tatted bat pattern. It is named "Mattie the Battie" in honour of her mother (see photo.) In Chinese, the word for good luck is pronounced "fu" and it sounds like the word for bat,"fu". Thus bats are lucky. Enjoy!

Hearts for Kay by Nine Libin

Nina Libin says we can wear our hearts on our sleeves! She is sharing this older pattern, recently revised. It was designed for Kay Foster's "Get Better" card after she had a terrible accident. Kay is doing fine now.
Nina Libin's Heart for Kay http://www.georgiaseitz.com/2017/patterns/ninalibinheartforkay.pdf

Nina's pattern has become very popular because it covers several different techniques such as rings, chains, floating rings, gauged (measured) picots. And the four types of joins used are most important.

Daffodils, forsythia, magnolias, even the peonies are showing their faces so early! And the National Park Service in Washington, D.C. predicts that the warm winter will bring on the cherry blossoms early this year. Cherry Blossoms' peak bloom (70 percent of the Yoshino cherry blossom trees, the most abundant of the 12 cherry blossom varieties on the National Mall,) may fully bloom early, around March 14.

Until then, Corina Meyfeldt shares her tatted cherry blossom with us!

Join us today for a warm welcome and tat chat. Let's talk about what techniques we would like to concentrate on this year, our 17th year online. And please bring suggestions for improving the lessons or the presentations. And remember, new designers and volunteers are always welcome, too.

Have you designed a pattern or rewritten a vintage one? Please share.

Did you get any new gadgets for the holidays, tatting tools, shuttles, new threads? Or have you seen the wonderful new books coming from Japan? The last one I got has anime in it!!

Have you read the list of upcoming tat days in 2017??

See you in class.
