star by Carolyn Groves pattrn by Charlene Finiello

Carolyn Groves noticed this star pattern in Old-Time Crochet Winter 1998 issue. It was designed by Charlene Finiello who has given permission to share the pattern with us. She sent a note:

"Hi, Georgia and Carolyn. I am excited about your revising my pattern. Just a note: it was photographed upside down and the looped rings don't really show! When I submitted it, I labeled the right side, but someone couldn't read, I guess! Please feel free to adapt the pattern anyway you want. Happy Tatting, Charlene Finiello"

CTM, To wind 2 shuttles CTM, wind the first shuttle as full as necessary. Then pull enough thread off the ball to wind the second shuttle as full as you need it to be. You can wind onto a thread holder first (or the outside of the first shuttle), then onto your second shuttle. That way you will avoid dealing with knotted thread during winding of the second shuttle.

http://www.georgiaseitz.com/2013/ankars/ankars4lessons.html

It is time for the BIG EVENT! Nina Libin will show the main features of ANKARS tatting. This method of tatting has a very strong (tight and stiff) foundation and is decorated with beads after tatting is done. Please note that ANKARS and BEANILE are different, but they have a lot in common: both are tatting and both use beads and seed beads. Sometimes there are pre-strung seed beads in ANKARS, and occasional larger beads are used in some BEANILE projects, especially in needle tatted pieces.
The lesson will be presented step by step slowly. You will want to have a shuttle wound and ready to try out the exercise. We are all learning this together. Please take time to read the information and you might want to print it off and begin an ANKARS folder. Have all lesson at hand will be a great aid where you being to work patterns posted online and in the Russian language books.

Lesson Log is posted after the evening class.
