Many thanks to Ruth Perry for sharing her pattern with the Online Tatting Class. It won't be long now until the falling leaves turn to snowflakes, so this is a great time to try this out. For those tatters living down under, perhaps you would like to tat this "flake" in pink and imagine that they are cherry blossoms "snowing" on the lawn as spring turns to summer for you. | ![]() | The small donut bead in the center of the snowflake could also be a cabone ring. It is possible to join to a cabone ring just as if it were a "picot", however, many tatters like the smooth look of the ring being covered by ds. Marie Smith has a good method of doing this. (http://www.e.n.e.btinternet.co.uk/FastEasy.pdf) Marie treats the edge of the ring as if it were the bare thread in a split chain which needs to be covered with double stitches. |
