Cyberspace was humming with tatting patterns this week! Red hot tatted lace panties, a mystery pattern to test tat, a needle tatted collar pattern restored online and a correction made to cross pattern posted several years ago.
Warning! The following photo and pattern are for mature audiences only.No longer found online, this pattern was found in the Wayback machine by a shuttle tatter who asked for help in converting it from needle tatting to shuttle tatting. She was so surprised to learn that no conversion is necesssary! You simply tat the pattern as it is written, simply using your preferred method of tatting. Diagrams were provided on the page. Here are the written instructions for Dianna Stevens' collar pattern:
The top left diagram has an arrow pointing at the set of two back to back rings. That is the start. String beads on the shuttle thread and on the ball/shuttle 2 thread.

| Zahra has been studying an older lesson which combined Bruges Crochet with tatting. http://www.georgiaseitz.com/2003/bruges/brugesjm.html | ![]() Dagmar Pezzuto has been working with cluny tatting and how to climb out from the center of a motif. She did a great job but asked for hints on how to improve. I would suggest some more practice with climbing out of the center using the split ring. The split ring used to climb out in the wheel was clearly identifiable. However, it should be as much like the shape of the other rings as possible. Try closing the split ring slowly, perhaps put a pencil inside the ring to keep it from closing too much. Make the mock picot the same length as the other picots so you do not need to "stretch" to make the join. It may be difficult to spot the climb out spot. ![]() Here are exercises to practice the climb out: Anna Valeire Antique Square Study of Split Rings and Mock picot |
