Gina: I was looking at mail AKTATTER sent out an invitation 7 hours ago Gina: is dmc cordonnet special better than the dmc cebelia for size 30? Gina: and hi Georgia Cynthia: we get free thru Doug's work Benefit package...as the new ones come with a trial and you have to pay for the continued....also I get anti virus, firewall etc AKTATTER: Anita sent these two links to share http://www.essortment.com/all/christmaslegend_rvao.htm AKTATTER: http://www.worldofchristmas.net/christmas-stories/legend-of-spider.html Gina: oh I see so you got a stripped down one with no software or operating system? Cynthia: Georgia did you see before the white out I will be at a Christmas party tonight so won't be at class AKTATTER: oic enjoy! Cynthia: cost less and with the benes thru works why pay more? Gina: absolutely true! Gina: oh I hope you have fun at your christmas party! Gina: I'm going to one on Friday night Gina: I noticed that the cordonnet has 6 threads and the cebelia only has 3 AKTATTER: Was Esther here when any of you got here? Gina: no but she had been here 6 hours ago Gina: I guess she was confused about the time AKTATTER: ah ok she is in Israel. Barb joined the chat 7 hours ago Cynthia: that can be very frustrating until you get the hang of it....I know I deal with that with lots of the newbies Cynthia: Hi Barb AnneB: Israel would be CET or CET+1 AKTATTER: ok aer there any questions to start out the q&a today? Barb: Hi Cynthia :) AKTATTER: I sent her the world clock link. Gina: yes, is dmc cordonnet special better than dmc cebelia for size 30? AnneB: 6 or 7 hours ahead of ET AnneB: Hi Barb Gina: hi Barb AKTATTER: bi ya Barb Barb: I was looking at the instructions for today's floating chains for shuttle. Are there instructions for doing a floating chain for needle? Barb: Hi Anne B and Gina and Georgia. :) AKTATTER: it was written for the shuttle, but let me think a minute about the needle method Gina: does anyone know? Gina: hi Aliz Alizandria joined the chat 7 hours ago Alizandria: hello everyone Barb: k AnneB: I guess it would be much as a split chain except that you need a knot or a bead to keep the thread from slipping through Barb: Hi Alizandria AKTATTER: if you consider the point that normally the split chain has a spot to which to anchor the bridge AKTATTER: and this floating chain does not AnneB: Hi Alizandra Barb: I think that Ive made one by mistake one time. LOL But I don't remember how I did it.. LOL AKTATTER: there must be something to bring the chain to a stop AKTATTER: ah yes Anne has it , placing the bead in the bead would be the anchor Barb: can you explain what you mean by anchor the bridge? AKTATTER: gina, i have used both and these days, nothing feels as good as the new Lizbeth to me, but it my not come in size 30 , I know there is size 20 and 40 Gina: no Lizbeth does not come in 30 Gina: which is why I have to choose AKTATTER: the place where you would make the join before you come back on the chain wrapping the bare thread with ds AKTATTER: a split chain was originally called a bridge AKTATTER: and making a sploit chain was bridging Barb: ahh ok..Thanks. Barb: So, would you put the bead on the ball thread or the eye thread? I'm thinking maybe the eye thread?? Gina: so it doesn't matter which one I choose, Georgia? AKTATTER: ok inmy mind Gina, DMC cordonnet in size 30 would be a finer thread and Cebellia would be "coarser" or "fatter" but that is so subjective Cynthia: Personal preference I would say even with what Georgia just added AKTATTER: yes I think the eye thread also AKTATTER: hello MJB and Aliz Barb: Ok.. I jut did it and yes, you put the bead on the eye thread. Wahoo. this is cute.. hehehe AKTATTER: Aliz I have posted your homeworj http://www.georgiaseitz.com/2010/2010index.html Alizandria: thank u TN joined the chat 6 hours ago AnneB: Hi TN Barb: I"m so glad you are having this class on split chains today. I have been wondering how to do this. I'll have to experiment a little with it. AKTATTER: great Barb! TN: Hi Anne AKTATTER: hello Terry and mel MaryR joined the chat 6 hours ago TN: Hi AK MaryR: Hi All AKTATTER: hi ya Mary picotsnkeys joined the chat 6 hours ago picotsnkeys: Hi all! Cynthia: The spider is adorable! Hi everyone I missed earlier Gina: oh Aliz, what pattern did you use for the purple one, second column, third one dow? Gina: that is so pretty! AKTATTER: ok then the needle tatting review is on the JIffy Needle TAtting method TN: AnneB, thanks for putting me in contact with Liv AKTATTER: http://www.georgiaseitz.com/nt/jnt/jntbasics.html Alizandria: Anne~almost finish with your Nor. Dragon~love love love it~thank you for putting it up AnneB: You're welcome TN :-) AnneB: And you Alizandra Gina: hi Melanie :) AnneB: Hi Melanie Alizandria: I don't see the pics when I go to the site... AKTATTER: the point most in question since we discussed this recently has been the thread through the eye of the needle picotsnkeys: brb phone Cynthia: scroll to the right...I just found them... AKTATTER: you take a cut length of thread, put one end through the eye of the needle, and then tie the tails together in a big fat klunky knot Bill joined the chat 6 hours ago AKTATTER: welcome bill Gina: hi Bill Alizandria: ah found them page was bigger than I thought Cynthia: Hi Bill AnneB: Hi Bill AKTATTER: make sure your screen is full screen too aliz picotsnkeys: back...Hi Bill! Bill: Oh my, I almost forgot. Thanks Georgia and Cynthia, and AnneB Gina: wb Melanie Bill: Hi picots! Cynthia: but you are here and that is what counts picotsnkeys: is it snowing yet for you Bill? Bill: Thanks Cynthia. AKTATTER: then you begin to wrap the ds Bill: I'm using my laptop. Have you got your new computer Cynthia? AKTATTER: all else is pretty much the same AKTATTER: this also creates a padded inner core thread Alizandria: Gina~Mary maynards~ http://www.georgiaseitz.com/2010/maynardedgeearring.html picotsnkeys: what is the advantage of using this Jiffy method? Just a padded core thread? Cynthia: should be here tomorrow and then I should have it by Wednesday evening...tech needs to add anti virus and some stuff we get as benes from Doug's job AKTATTER: you can use this method and put a less expensive thread as the core thread and wrap the ds with the pretty or more expensive thread picotsnkeys: Ah! I could use that technique! Bill: YAY! picotsnkeys: go Cynthia! Cynthia: that makes sense Georgia...did I miss something? what do you do with the clunky knot?? Bill: Yes, snowing quite a bit. Bill: Picotsnkeys. Bill: Clunky knot? Barb: Jiffy needle tatting method Bill. Cynthia: thread doubled thru the eye of the tatting needle and tie in a big funky knot....aka earlier Barb: It's a bit different than Barbara Foster's method. AKTATTER: also you do not have to tie off th rings and cahins AKTATTER: you leave the big knot so you can easily hide ends later TN: . Bill: I see. Interesting. Gina: thank you, Aliz! Cynthia: ah that makes sense...I was trying to figure it in with the spider for today and it wasn't working for me at all Barb: I need to get back to my study of that. I haven't done much since Danny got sick. I'm still researching the different methods of needle tatting. AKTATTER: and when the chain is made it is rotated on the carrying cord into the "front" side positioin so no RODS needed AKTATTER: Esther, you made it! AnitaL76 joined the chat 6 hours ago Gina: hi Esther and Anita AKTATTER: Tatters please welcome Esther from Israel she is new today! AnitaL76: Hi All :) Esther joined the chat 6 hours ago Barb: Personally, I prefer Foster's technique. Bill: Welcome Esther, Israel? Cynthia: me too AKTATTER: I see 10 photos for Aliz how many do you see? Bill: Hi Anita. Gina: doll needle eye is too big for the thread to passs over when you make the ds on the shaft AnitaL76: Hi Bill :) Barb: Hochey, the real tatting needle has the eye the same width as the rest of the shaft. Esther: yes, Israel AKTATTER: never use a doll needle please get a real needle it will make all the difference to your work Bill: Welcome all! Alizandria: I found them thank you AK Barb: Sometimes the doll needles have an eye that is a bit wider and so it makes getting the ds over the eye really difficult. AKTATTER: great! Cynthia: and won't poke your fingers either! hockeyjo: Oh thankyou, that's why my thumb is buzzy for weeks after I use the doll needle Barb: Having said that, I do have a doll needle that has a nice eye and I was able to tat with it. dagmar: Hi to all claudia joined the chat 6 hours ago AKTATTER: you work a certain tension into the ds as you wrap them on the needle AKTATTER: if you have to struggle and pull to get them over the fat eye of the needle Barb: Also, the real tatting needles have a dull point so that you don't poke yourself whereas the doll needles have a sharp point. Bill: Hi Claudia AnneB: Hi Claudia AKTATTER: to pull them out of shape and sometimes they will not even slide off the end of the needle claudia: hi all!! hockeyjo: Where can I order a proper tatting needle? AKTATTER: that is a good "point" barb LOL AKTATTER: I can help you with that Jo AKTATTER: just email me Gina: it's the pictures on the Mary Maynard pattern page, Georgia http://www.georgiaseitz.com/2010/maynardedgeearring.html hockeyjo: Thanks Barb: LOL got it Georgia. AKTATTER: THE BIG DIFFERNCE= THE SPLIT CHAIN IS NOT ANCHORED Barb: Thank you Vingerhoedje AKTATTER: THE END OF IT FLOATS IN THE AIR malcantara: place...sorry! vingerhoedje: see you all and i will try to take care aktatter vingerhoedje: by all AnneB: I sometimes cheat and put a post shuttle in the loop instead of finger tatting AKTATTER: BYE NOW vingerhoedje: ntil next year TN: Bill, the normal split chain requires knotting at the proper length and tatting backwards Rosemarie: Bye Vingerhoedje and God Bless. AnneB: Bye Marco TN: this is more forward and no need to know correct length claudia: bye and take care marco Bill: You're right Georgia! We still have to do it the hard way. Thanks Terry. Bill: Wishful thinking. vingerhoedje: bye bye Bill: God bless Marco Jenny: Bye Marco AKTATTER: BUT WITH DUE RESPECT TO TERRY'S CONCEPT malcantara: bye Marco AKTATTER: THIS FLOATING CHAIN MAY BE ACCOMPLISHED IN ANOTHER MANNER malcantara: ??? AKTATTER: THE DIFFERNCE BETWEEN TERRY'S SINGLE SHUTTLE SPLIT CHAIN AND THE OTHER METHOD IS THAT Barb: AnneB what is a post shuttle? AKTATTER: IN TERRY;S METHOD YOU ACTUALLY DS THE DS AKTATTER: AND IN THE OTHER METHOD YOU ARE ONLY WRAPPING THE DS Caroline Hill: Do you pull the 4 yards of thread through the leg? Cynthia: a shuttle with a post not a bobbin AKTATTER: TO POST THE SHUTTLE MEANS TO PUT IT THROUGH THE RING OR LOOP TN: Caroline: yes Paule: My question exactly Caroline AnneB: As Cynthia said :-) Paule: wow AKTATTER: THAT IS A LOT OF THREAD TO PULL THROUGH Cynthia: see we all have questions.... Barb: Thanks.. So by 'posting it. You mean that you wrap it around the post in the shuttle to hold it or?? TN: The thread pulling is irritating... Paule: won't it be a little ragged at the last? TN: but you don't have much of it to do, usually Cynthia: put the shuttle in the loop I think on this one.... Caroline Hill: You would not want to do a big project. TN: So far, i haven't notice much ragged thread Paule: ok picotsnkeys: moral of that story: Use high quality thread! :) TN: The part that would get ragged is the end you would cut off anyway Barb: Ok. I'm a little confused, but this is new territory for me as far as shuttle is concerned. malcantara joined the chat 5 hours ago TN: It is much harder for me to describe than it is to do Paule: It is new territory for us too AKTATTER: BARB WHEN SOME TATTERS CLOSE A RING AKTATTER: JUST BEFORE CLOSING Aurora: . AKTATTER: THEY DROP THE SHUTTLE THROUGH THE RING TO THE BACK SIDE, THEN DRAW IT CLOSED malcantara: G: how you know how many dn you have to leave....? yo close the split chIN picotsnkeys: I don't think I'm confused.....but then, I haven't tried to tat the spider. I could be confused lol AnneB: I'm looking for a link showin how I use it Barb, but my PC is not behaving at the moment (or the internet) brb Barb: Oh Thanks Georgia. I heard about this the other day somewhere. AKTATTER: THE DIFFERENCE IT MAKES TO THE RING IS SMALL BUT VISIBLE LOOK AT THE EXAMPLE HERE: http://morduededentelle.wordpress.com/2009/08/17/post-the-shuttle-add-a-half-stitch-or-both/ Barb: Thanks AnneB AKTATTER: mARIA, HOW MANY DS ON THE FLOATING SPLIT CHAIN, THE PATTERN MUST TELL YOU OR IT BECOMES YOUR PREFERENCE FOR AHOW LONG THE SPIDER'S LEG WOUL DBE Caroline Hill: Wow, I have a leg. Just 7 more to go. :) AKTATTER: OK ARE WE READY FOR TERRY TO GO ON? AKTATTER: RAH CAROLINE! picotsnkeys: go Caroline! Barb: thank you G. I bookmarked it and will read it later. malcantara: BUT THIS PATTERN DON´T SAY ANYTHING??? Rosemarie: k TN: Only 5 legs left if making an insect AnneB: Here is a SSSR made using finger tatting then using a post shuttle in the loop to make the second half Barb: Wahoo caroline! AnneB: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQVpuZQ3h_c claudia: good tip g.. i will saved this link picotsnkeys: I thought I saw SSSCH: 14 + B to chain thread & Cl picotsnkeys: so, 14 DS ? AKTATTER: OK TERRY IS THIS CORRECT Barb: ty AnneB AKTATTER: EACH LEG HAS 14 DS TN: yes that's 14 ds in the chain and add a bead to the end AKTATTER: THEN JOIN TOTHE BEAD AKTATTER: PULL THE THREAD THROUGH?? TN: and the close AKTATTER: GOT IT MARIA? TN: make that: and then close malcantara: no! where i start the slip chain? malcantara: as i wish????? malcantara: or you have a preference? Esther: Bye, Bye Aurora: bye Esther, be fine picotsnkeys: bye Esther. Come again! AnneB: Maria, first you make a ring Gina: bye Esther, hope to see you soon Cynthia: You have to work along the spider body...I think or did I miss something.... malcantara: bye esther!!! have a wonderfull time! see you next year! AnneB: Then an ordinary chain of 2 dst TN: Malcantara, on the spider, start with a ring for the head then chain 2 and then make a leg Cynthia: Bye Esther we also have a beginner class on Thursday if you want to join us AnneB: Then there is the split chain SSSC AKTATTER: COME AGAIN ESTHER malcantara: yes...but how many dn you tatt with the tchnic from the 14 dn ? AnneB: In the text the SSSCH is pulled a bit to the right compared to the chains AKTATTER: 14 = THE NUMBER OF DOUBLE STITCHES TATTED WITH THE LOOP TO MAKE THE LEG IN THIS TECHNIQUE TN: The leg is just connected by a thread until it is done as the chain continued to the next leg AKTATTER: AH HA! THE LEG HANGS BY A THREAD UNTIL DRESSED! claudia: i think it is more easy to tat than to explain it Jenny: Have to go now, see you all next year! claudia: by jenny.. see you! AKTATTER: MARIA DO NOT BE CONFUSED BY THE DIAGRAM JANE MADE Jenny: Bye Cynthia: This pattern looks fun to do...I'm looking forward to making some yet this year and a bunch next year to give as gifts... AKTATTER sent out an invitation 84 minutes ago Lilome: I'm looking at janes instructions at the moment AKTATTER: reading the pattern is a good place to start Bernice joined the chat 84 minutes ago Lilome: You can make the floating chain without adding a bead....is that right? Bernice: Hi I am sending my homework Yuma Tatter joined the chat 83 minutes ago Lilome: and..... AKTATTER: ok Bernice Yuma Tatter: well, he has a few patterns, but I was able to finish it and learn the technique in the process :-) Lilome: Is that "ball" thread loose as in not attached to a ball so that it can be pulled through AKTATTER: the needle tatting review for tonight is the Jiffy Needle Tatting method http://www.georgiaseitz.com/nt/jnt/jntbasics.html AKTATTER: yes it is loose TN joined the chat 81 minutes ago Lilome: ok Lilome: thanks AKTATTER: wb terry TN: Thanks TN: Hello everyone Bernice: is jiffy tatting different? Bernice: Hi TN Lilome: Hello TN TN: Hi Bernice AKTATTER: the main point to remember about the Jiffy Needle Tatting method is the doubled core thread AKTATTER: yep it is Bernice MaryR joined the chat 80 minutes ago Barb: lilome, I think you can, but I haven't done it without a bead yet. AKTATTER: the carrying cord is a cut length of thread AKTATTER: put the tail through the eye of the eye, then tie both tails to gether to make a loop AKTATTER: almost everything else is the same as regular needle tatting but AKTATTER: you do not need to tie off the rings and chains Yuma Tatter: I think the bead helps...I tried it without, and it seemed harder to get the tension right when pulling the core thread through. AKTATTER: and the chains can be rotated on the doubled core thread to reach the "front" side up look AKTATTER: so no RODS needed when wrapping the ds onto the needle Lilome: Ok Lilome: looks like a bead is the best way to go TN: Lilome, you do not need to use a bead Lilome: just reading the instructions ...yes you have to leave a false picot with a paprer clip ...I see AKTATTER: The Jiffy Needle Tatting style was developed by Ed and Selma Morin. AKTATTER: Originally, they offered a set of 9 tatting needles ranging from tiny to afghan size AKTATTER: the 5 larger needles allowed the tatter to use fat fluffy thread, afghan yarn and sportweight yarns like for baby clothes AKTATTER: their method was also the first needle tatting method i read of that used two wraprring htreads for effects AKTATTER: the set of 9 tatting needles were frist made by a dental implement company Barb: I have seen a few examples of tatting with yarn on the internet. I didn't bookmark it but I think they made a scarf. Lilome: k AKTATTER: I do not believe they are sold anywhere now but keep watch onebay on the antique stores all 9 sizes would be a treat to have marytats joined the chat 72 minutes ago AKTATTER: there is a set of tatting needles from Havel's and one generic set from India, both with 5 or 6 needles Yuma Tatter: I would think tatting with yarn might be a bit difficult...that the yarn fibers would stick to itself a little as it was pulled through Bernice: Hi Mary AKTATTER: However, nearly everyone of the needles has the fat eye and I cannot recommend them for needle tatting Barb: Oh wouldn't that be a wonderful collector's item? AKTATTER: Anita, I made baby clothes with the larger needles with ease ncmomftbragg: annette_mclaurin@yahoo.com/NC-USA shuttle beginner Yuma Tatter: guess it wouldn't be that much different than working with yarn and crocheting or knitting marytats: Hi all. 4.5 inches of snow here in Indiana. Lotsa snowflakes! Yuma Tatter: what part of indiana, mary? I saw a news reel that said wind hampers assisting road travelers in Indiana and wondered where? Barb: Georgia, did the yarn stretch very much? Bernice: Hi Annette AKTATTER: wahoo Mary glad we only got a few inches, the 50-mile a hr winds drifted the lanes though AKTATTER: I do not recall the yarn stretching at all Barb marytats: Indianapolis, in the middle. But lots of lake effect snow up north. ncmomftbragg: ak tatter AKTATTER: ok any questions on the JNT?? TN: it is much easier to do than describe AKTATTER: the spider is posted stitch Barb: I've been playing with making them with the chains with needle tatting too Yuma. Does Bernice have pics we can see? AKTATTER: a picture is always worth a 1000 words so look here http://www.georgiaseitz.com/2010/tnimmerjefloatingcterryhainsdiagrams.pdf AKTATTER: her spider is posted Barb Barb: I played a little this afternoon and then a little this evening. Yuma Tatter: posted stitch??? TN: the loop used to pull the back can be a separate piece of thread Lilome: k Bernice joined the chat 31 minutes ago stitchingsharon: Is loop like the one you'd make at start of SCMR? hope G: hope green love2tat@gmail.com Tucson Az Bernice: no pictures TN: it is more like the loop used with the magic thread technique Alizandria: . AKTATTER: remember ths hanging cluny diagrams that RUTH PERRY DID FOR US AKTATTER: http://georgiaseitz.com/2007/cluny/ruthphangingcluny.pdf TN: except instead of tatting over the loop you use the loop to tat with stitchingsharon: separate thread? Bernice: I keep knocking myself off Chatzy Sandyc: k AKTATTER: SEE HOW THE THREAD WAS CUT NO SHUTTLE AKTATTER: THENT HE TAIL PULLED THRU THE LEAF WITH THE AMGIC LOOP, WELL TERRY IS USING AN ALL TATTED METHOD TO CREATE THE MAGIC LOOP WHICH PULLS THAT CUT TAIL DOWN THROUGH THE CHAIN AKTATTER: YES CHATZY IS WONKY TONIGHT Yuma Tatter: are floss threaders available in the states AKTATTER: THE LOOP TERRY MAKES NOT ONLY IS USED AS IF IT WERE A SHUTTLE TO TAT THE DS Barb: With needle tatting you work the first half of the chain with the ball thread. Then you pull the thread out of the eye of the needle and make the 2nd half with the 'eye' thread. Then you add a bead and then thread the needle again and just pull it through. It's cute. Haven't tried to make one without using a bead though. I also used 3 beads at the end and that was cute too. But just samples.. Haven't worked the spider yet. AKTATTER: BUT ALSO AT THE END IT USED AS THE MAGIC LOOP TO PULL THE TAIL DOWN INTO THE WORK AKTATTER: AND SINCE TERRY HAS US USING A 4 YD CUT THREAD Lilome: k AKTATTER: WE CAN KEEP ON USING THE THREAD WITHOUT A SHUTTLE AND CONTINUE TO CREATE MORE LEGS, ER FLOATING CHAINS TN: there is a lot of thread hanging around that can get confusing at times tatpat1: ok stitchingsharon: k AKTATTER: k Sandyc: k Yuma Tatter: that's why I decided to use variegated thread...I could keep track of where I was better... made an odd looking spider, but it was easier to keep track of my threads stitchingsharon: pull chain thread all the way through so it's in position for next leg? TN: I usually use a color completely different that the pattern thread AKTATTER: we need a black and red or acopper and brown thread for spiders yarnplayer Bernice: I just unthreaded and worked on the eye end and than threaded and pulled through Barb: Ohh.. copper.. now you're talking TN: you pull the chain thread through and make a couple of normal chain ds and start the next leg yarnplayer: marking the colors :) AKTATTER: terry' STEP BY STEP LAYOUR IS VERY HELPFUL http://gallery.me.com/nimmer#100044 Lilome: She has a beautiful one called knittygritty that has coppe and brown ...but a bit of green too TN: This little bug is a bit different from the spider Bernice: I had a problem with the chains between the legs....they have the pants on the wrong side AKTATTER: MAYBE WE SHOULD MAKE THAT BODY SPLIT RING IN RED FOR A BLACK WIDOW SPIDER AKTATTER: OR MAYBE PUT A COUPLE OF RED SEED BEADS IN THAT SPLIT RING AKTATTER: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.spidy.goliathus.com/img/BlackWidowSpider.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.spidy.goliathus.com/english/article-black-widow-spider.php&h=285&w=300&sz=21&tbnid=_Gr_2qendsLT1M:&tbnh=110&tbnw=116&prev=/images%3Fq%3DBLACK%2BWIDOW%2BSPIDER&zoom=1&q=BLACK+WIDOW+SPIDER&usg=__hNG1pHLXFww5Hj7TgSYjji7s5L0=&sa=X&ei=3tIGTa3dLYP58AaDi8nnBA&ved=0CCcQ9QEwAA Bernice: red sounds neat AKTATTER: ANY MORE QUESTIONS FOR TERRY? Lilome: or maybe a redback spider AKTATTER: GOSH IS THIS THING SLOW TONIGHT Bernice: Do I need to tie at the end of every chain? Bernice: for needle+ Bernice: ?? Yuma Tatter: Terry, did you ahve a problem with the thread just before the start of each leg stretching out of shape a little as you pulled the thread back through the stitches forming the leg? Jon: you could place a big red bead for the body. AKTATTER: i THINK YO MAY NEED TO BERNICE AS YOU ARE CHANGING DIRECTIONS TOO Jon: red bead inside the ring. TN: I usually have a bit of gaposis at the start of the hanging chain Sherong: Red button for center Lilome: yes sounds good Jon Barb joined the chat 17 minutes ago tatpat1: There are beads shaped like an hour glass TN: this typically is hidden when the next ds of the chain tightens things up Barb: froze me up. Lilome: I'm going to have a play with this over the christmas holiday Yuma Tatter: then it wan't just me, and mine did tend to close up :-) AKTATTER: LOOK AT BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE FOR DIRECTIONS FRO BEAD IN SPLIT RING MaryR: . AKTATTER: http://www.georgiaseitz.com/2002/beads/beadbasics.html Yuma Tatter: Terry do you have other ideas for using the hanging chains? AKTATTER: GAPSOSIS!!!!! GAsp!!! TN: these hanging chains are a little looser than regular chains AKTATTER: to remove ANY HINT OF GAPSOSIS FOLD THE RING/CHAIN BACK ON TO THEPREVIOUS ELEMENT AKTATTER: THEN AS YOU SET THE FIRST DS, TIGHTEN IT AS MUCH AS YOU CAN COMPLETE DS AND ONE MORE DS AKTATTER: THEN UNFOLD AND CHECK FOR GAPS TN: I've only been at this a couple years and my inexperience gives me trouble making patterns Barb: Barnice, I have been playing with doing it both ways.. Just trying to figure it out. I have done it tying at the end and not tying at the end. And I've not decided which I like best yet. So I'm still trying to decide.
