BahmaTerri: Hi AnneB - we're the only ones so far, huh?? AnneB: Yes. Class does not start yet AnneB: Usually there is a needle class for beginners first, then the ongoing class BahmaTerri: I'm usually early just to make my connection works, and see what's happening in the needle class AnneB: If there is a needle class today, it will start in 10 minutes. The ongoing class starts in 40 minutes BahmaTerri: I'll work for another 10 minutes then and check back. Thanks. AnneB: I'm usually early just to remember to turn up LOL AnneB: Are you tatting anything at the moment? BahmaTerri: True, sometimes if I don't do it early, I get busy and forget about it. BahmaTerri: I just finished Martha Ess's Green Butterfly - not sure what will be next. How about you? AnneB: I'm steadilly tatting on a large centrepiece - reconstructing an old pattern BahmaTerri: Do you Celtic tat? AnneB: I have done it a couple of times BahmaTerri: May I ask a question? AnneB: Sure - I might be able to help :-) BahmaTerri: Is it just one long chain that you weave after you finish the chain or is the weaving part of the process? AnneB: That depends on the pattern. I have seen both. BahmaTerri: OK. Then I think I'll look for both and try it out to see how it works. It's pretty but I haven't tried it yet. AnneB: This one was a piece of both: http://nuperelle.blogspot.com/2009/03/en-knut... BahmaTerri: Oh, very pretty. Thanks! BahmaTerri: When you work on a large centerpiece, do you also do smaller motifs to take a break, or just keep working on it until you finish the large one? AnneB: Yes - except that the row I'm working on now is several motifs AnneB: For the one I'm working on now I have had such a momentum that I have just keept on tatting as there is a risk in taking a break BahmaTerri: Wow! My hat's off to you for do large projects like that. I'm not quite ready for that yet. AnneB: If you want to make something larger you could start with something made of several motifs. That way you can stop when you find it large enough. AnneB: The one I'm tatting now "needs" all of the rows. BahmaTerri: I've thought about doing it that way just haven't tried it yet. BahmaTerri: Are you the tatter who creates all the fantastic dragons? AnneB: Fist step: one motif. Second step: one motif in centre with six (or eight) around AKTATTER from x.x.x.187 joined the chat 7 hours ago AnneB: I have designed some dragons, yes - but there are other "out there" too LOL AKTATTER: hello all AnneB: Hi Georgia! BahmaTerri: Nice to meet you. I enjoy looking at all of your work! BahmaTerri: Hi Georgia AnneB: Thanks :-) AKTATTER: thanks Terri, the class website has many tatters' work displayed as well as mine we are so fortunate BahmaTerri: I know. Tatters everywhere are just a fantastic group! I have learned so much here. AnneB: Maria got a long way on the doily of last week! AnneB: I haven't started yet - but I plan to! BahmaTerri: Maria's doily is beautiful Susan from x.x.x.232 joined the chat 7 hours ago AnneB: But first: finish the doily I'm working on - then at least one Manning pattern AKTATTER: I just posted another photo for maria on the main page http://www.georgiaseitz.com/2010/2010index.ht... Tine: ok AnneB AnneB: I have not tried it yet. AKTATTER: http://picasaweb.google.com.br/drekaga/Frywol... eye candy Clau from x.x.x.106 joined the chat 7 hours ago BahmaTerri: Hi Susan, Tine! AKTATTER: Suan that is a common problem AKTATTER: to fix it AKTATTER: you must pay attention to any joining picots Tine: hi Terry AKTATTER: joining picots are "construction" picots like the framework of a building Susan: yummy eye candy! AKTATTER: if the joining picots are ll the same size, in any piece of tatting, then the lace develops a natural curve Clau: hi girls.. hi georgia Tine: hi Clua Susan: okay, thanks Georgia Tine: sorry Clau AKTATTER: if you want the lace to lie flat and straight, then you need to make the joining picot about 1/3 larger Tine: ok Susan: I'll try that AnneB: Hi Claudia Clau: hi! AKTATTER: this extra length then allows for the thread that gets "used up" in the join. AKTATTER: welcome Claudia AKTATTER: hi Debbie Susan: thanks, Georgia Clau: today is your birthday georgia? AKTATTER: oh no not yet!!! Clau: oh.. sorry! AKTATTER: I can wait another 6 days to get older lol Tine: haha Susan: Happy almost Birthday AnneB: Not that big a miss then :-) AKTATTER: but this birthday is a great milestone in life Clau: have to wait 6 days to give my congratulations! lol AKTATTER: at 62 years one can qualify for social security payments which does make life easier a little bit :) Tine: O maria alcant from x.x.x.67 joined the chat 7 hours ago AKTATTER: thank you! maria alcant: Hi girls!!!
