AKTATTER: doing fine, hope you are too! Beadweaver: yes Winkerbill from x.x.x.166 joined the chat 6 hours ago Winkerbill: hi everyone! Beadweaver: hello AKTATTER: Steph good to see you here Winkerbill: wasn't sure i'd make it this early..... AKTATTER: is there a question today? Beadweaver: Hi Yummayes Winkerbill: no questions from me, just like to check in and see what I can learn during the needle tatting time. Beadweaver: oops Cynthia from x.x.x.14 joined the chat 6 hours ago Winkerbill: hi CYnthia AKTATTER: hello cyn AKTATTER: well I have a lesson for the needle tatters but I will wait a minute before starting Beadweaver: How do you know you are working your work the right way? It ends Up facing the wrong way for me all the time. Cynthia: Hi everyone...I'll echo Steph--just likemto cee what I can learn... AKTATTER: cyn do you know ridgewoman? AKTATTER: lol now Bead it can't be all the time Cynthia: not sure Beadweaver: lol, alot though Winkerbill: bead, that's one of my problems with the needle, too - every time I reverse work I have to figure out if I'm holding everything in the right position. Tine from x.x.x.171 joined the chat 6 hours ago Winkerbill: ;-) AKTATTER: first ring/chain decides the front side AKTATTER: welcome tine Tine: hello all Winkerbill: tine, hi! Cynthia: Hi Tine Tine: hi Georgia AKTATTER: the second element will need to be adjusted to achieve the all front side look Tine: hi all AKTATTER: so if the pattern start with a ring AKTATTER: then the chain is worked in reverse half stitch order Tine: wich patern? Winkerbill: If you do a lot of it, you get used to the way it is supposed to look on the needle. I just don't do that much needle tatting, so I have to figure out what I'm looking at every time I do. AKTATTER: if fact, as a general rule you can start chains that way all the time AKTATTER: any pattern Tine: ok AKTATTER: you can check the front side by checking the picots Cynthia: me too Wink Beadweaver: my picots on a ring are not facing the right direction AKTATTER: if the picots on both rings and chains have bars across the legs then it is all front side AKTATTER: if not adjust the one out of whack Tine: y Cynthia: you get to decided which is out of whack... AKTATTER: exceptions to the rule Beadweaver: ok Ill keep that in mind, thanks AKTATTER: what if the pattern calls for a ring rw ring Mandy from x.x.x.20 joined the chat 6 hours ago Mandy: Hi Tine: hi Mandy AKTATTER: that means the two rings bottoms touch and the top point away from you and away from the line ofprogression Winkerbill: hi Mandy AKTATTER: welcome mandy AKTATTER: the needle tatting session is just beginning any questions? AKTATTER: that second ring then has to be tatted in reverse half stitch order Beadweaver: when you RW do you start doing the ds's in opposite order AKTATTER: so that when you rw to front side again, it too is front side up Winkerbill: wish there were a way to get more hours in the day so I could get everything done and have more time left to tat. Beadweaver: oh, ok-got it AKTATTER: mostly that is so bead Tine: m Cynthia: Steph I think that is the bane of att tatters Beadweaver: thanks AKTATTER: ridgewoman needed an invitation to class but she is not on my list Cynthia: hmmmlet me look brb AKTATTER: shuttle tatting class starts at the hour Winkerbill: yeah, I think so....but work really eats up your "free" time. (giggle) AKTATTER: for now the needle tatters need to consider the upcoming lesson today and last weeks lesson also Tine: k AKTATTER: how can the needle tatter get the spacing even in mignonette style tatting AKTATTER: and in one shuttle allring tatting Tine: ? AKTATTER: mansy type ok or k to let he computer know you are still active in class AKTATTER: take a look at this previous lesson on bicolor work AKTATTER: http://www.georgiaseitz.com/2003/bicolor/bico... Winkerbill: i'm thinking you'd use a gauge but I haven't mastered the use of a gauge with the needle yet. AKTATTER: now's the time Steph, it is so easy Beadweaver: I've been watching, but I don't think I will be able to do that yet. I'm still struggleing with the old stuff. lol AKTATTER: the shuttle tatters resorts to making a guage of card to hold the owrk in place AKTATTER: and uses the edge of the cardboard as the pinching point AKTATTER: if the needle tatter simply uses a regular woodn gauge Tine: m Beadweaver: that's neat! AKTATTER: it is so easy, just place it on the needle next to the bottom of the ring just finished AKTATTER: hold in place and wrap on the first half stitch! Winkerbill: wow, cool! Tine: yes easy AKTATTER: keep it there for a ds or two and remove Tine: k AKTATTER: any questions? Tine: no Winkerbill: sounds easier than using the cardboard gauge with the shuttle....(and that's not hard, either) Tine: I think so AKTATTER: as the line of rings progress they may tangle up some Winkerbill: and the 2-color work looks like it might be easier with the needle, too.... Beadweaver: G, do you still have any gauges in stock? AKTATTER: oh it is trmendously easy as you can see Cynthia: found her...(Ridgewoman) is also on one of the other groups. Should I send her a invite? I have her name and blog location AKTATTER: you need a different size gauge for each thread color used AKTATTER: Bead we are cutting more this week. It will be a few days yet. AKTATTER: yes please do Tine: k Cynthia: brb Yuma Tatter from x.x.x.98 joined the chat 6 hours ago Beadweaver: I will get some this time around, AKTATTER: welcome yuma Beadweaver: should i just email you? Tine: hi yuma Tine: hi yuma AKTATTER: ok bead just email me later this week Yuma Tatter: Hello, I have a question, ready? AKTATTER: ok any needle tatting questions? AKTATTER: oh yes please Yuma Tatter: I'm a needle tatter, working the TIAS. When it says to switch shuttles, do I move the needle to the other end, or do I do anything at all? Cynthia from x.x.x.14 sent out an invitation 6 hours ago becky from x.x.x.118 joined the chat 6 hours ago Tine: thats a good question AKTATTER: switching shuttles means that a second thread comes into play Yuma Tatter: if working off the ball, is it simply the thread on the other side? AKTATTER: in your tias do you have 2 threads? Tine: than you need two needles ? AKTATTER: is it two color work? Tine: three Yuma Tatter: no, but working without ball, so there is another end AKTATTER: if so you will need two needles also Tine: ok Yuma Tatter: It's 3 colors, actually, but at the point it says switch shuttles it continues with the same color just used. AKTATTER: ok after the switch, what comes next ring or chain? Beadweaver: k Tine: some times ring some times chain Cynthia: so far in the TIAS we haven't needed 2 colors at the same time...It was color 1 the put aside and do part 2 in a second color Yuma Tatter: ill have to check brb AKTATTER: is this Janes' new tias? which day? How did you do it? Cynthia: it really shows whick I'm better at...lol Raelara: if you are using a needle then you just switch threads, I think AKTATTER: ok AKTATTER: much of the time common sense will figure it out Raelara: if you are using a needle then you just switch threads, I think Tine: m BahmaTerri: k Cynthia: since I have it done with shuttle to look at I just kind of look and copy Winkerbill from x.x.x.166 left the chat 6 hours ago AKTATTER: the thread in the needle's eye can come out for use in mkaing a ring also Tine: m Cynthia: mostly when it changes directions with the needle I just change the diredtion and keep the front side front... becky: ' Raelara: I am not all that great at needle, so I wouldn't really know Raelara: I am not all that great at needle, so I wouldn't really know Winkerbill from x.x.x.166 joined the chat 6 hours ago AKTATTER: hi Terri Jenni Yuma Tatter: think on the next SS, I'll try threading the other end and see if it works Beadweaver: k Raelara: man, something is up with chatzy today AKTATTER: here too so slow Raelara: taking forever to post messages BahmaTerri: hello, yep chatzy is wonky today Yuma Tatter: you're right realara ; I'm having trouble posting AKTATTER: holiday today must be a lot of users online Cynthia: It keeps telling me I will have to try again...LOL \ Tine: y Winkerbill: i tried going out and back in, but thought I wasn't going to GET back in.
