Mimi Dillman's English Version of Elisa du Sud's Coeur Cluny
Note: all clunies consist of 20 wraps (passing weaving shuttle left to right and back again = 1 wrap)
Start at the ring in the cleavage
SH1 (White)
R 6 - 3 - 6 rw
SH2 (Blue)
CH 4 DNRW (Mimi note: no picot here)
R 3 - 3 DNRW
CH 4
SR Blue 3 – 1 – 1 - 3 / White 6 clr
Repeat twice more.
1 Cluny blue
R White 4 + (join to center ring) 4 clr
1 Cluny blue
R White 6 + (join to start of previous cluny) 3 - 3 - 3 clr SLT
SR Blue 3 - 1 - 1 - 3 / White 6 clr
1 Cluny Blue joined to base of both previous cluny
R + join to previous Cluny Mimi note: there is no other inside ring for some time in the pattern. The join after this 3rd cluny is made into the small triangle formed by the base of the small white ring (the one that joins to the cleavage) and the tip and base of the 2 clunies going in/out of that ring. There will be another join at this same spot between leaf 5 and 6.
Continue for 6 cluny separated by 6 rings 2 of which are split rings
CH Blue 6 - 6
R 4 + (join to last picot of previous ring) 4 clr rw
CH 3 - 3 DNRW
R 3 + (join to picot of chain) 3 - 1 - 1 - 3 - 3 clr DNRW
CH 3 + (join to last picot of previous ring) 3 RW
R 4 - 4 clr RW
Ch 6 + 6 rw
1 Cluny Blue
R White 4 + (join to center ring) 4 clr
1 Cluny Blue
R White 6 + (join to start of first cluny) 3 - 1 - 1 - 3 clr
SR Blue 3 – 1 - 1 - 3 / White 6 clr
continue as on opposite side
After last cluny:
SR Blue 3 – 1 - 1 - 3 / White 6 clr repeat twice more
CH Blue 4 (join to picot of tiny ring opposite) 3
Finish off ends.
Mimi's additional notes:
I would recommend changing the working order of the 2nd side a little bit. After Ch 6+6 RW, I would make a ring 3-1-1-3-6, then blue cluny / inner ring joined to cleavage/ cluny join to the outer ring, then split ring and continue the same sequence as the other side. This is the order that I did the "tat by numbers" diagram. Why do the ring 3-1-1-3-6 before? It’s very, very difficult to leave a small picot for joining at the base of a chain heading toward a ring. It is also very difficult to jam one’s crochet hook in a space between a chain and a leaf.
