AKTATTER: I repeat your question: After Ring D if I reverse the work the next chain does not go in the correct direction. The only way that I can get it to work out is to Not Reverse the Work. AKTATTER: which pattern was it? AKTATTER: Afternoon session beginning needle tatting Oct. 12, 2009 Rosemarie: Rosemarie's Heart Pattern Cynthia: Rosemarie Peel's heart the one from lesson 3 Rosemarie: Yes Cynthia: You don't reverse after ring D as you should go the same direction when you come out of it... Rosemarie: I thought so - big hugs and kisses to you! Cynthia: does that make sense...I've done a bunch of those hearts--out of tiny thread they make a cute earring...just hang over a hoop or make a small picot in the middle of the handle--you choose how long the handle is Winkerbill from x.x.x.47 joined the chat 7 hours ago Winkerbill: hi everyone Cynthia: Hi Steph... AKTATTER: Are you making the handle separately? AKTATTER: Welcome Steph Rosemarie: I have been trying all kind of crazy complicated moves to follow the directions. Finally I just stopped reversing the work after ring D, but I wasn't sure that I might have made an error earlier on. Thanks again. Cynthia: I do the handle right where it says in the directions just make it the length I want. AKTATTER: Did you get the dollhouse chart ok Steph? Winkerbill: I did, thanks. Rosemarie: I haven't gotten much farter than the third lock join. The idea of making earrings is a good one. AnitaL76: just found that pattern....... dont think I had seen that one before :) Winkerbill: I have those little hearts hanging on almost every knob in the house.....I really went nuts when I found that pattern.... AKTATTER: you can actually make the handle when you tat the left side and Cynthia: 2 worked with joining the picots makes a cute basket that a Kiss fits in perfectly--I used size 20 crochet thread i think... Winkerbill: all different sizes....and made one little basket by tatting 2 hearts together but only putting 1 handle on. AKTATTER: attach it to the right side when you come around with the finishing chain AKTATTER: welcome Anita Cynthia: The beginner class has a lot of neat patterns...quick to do once you get the hang of tatting AnitaL76: hi G, been a while since I have been to class.... managed to get kids to behave for the time being anyway :) Winkerbill: and easy to put in a tiny bag and stash in a pocket for when you go somewhere and need something to do wtih your hands. AKTATTER from x.x.x.239 sent out 2 invitation(s) 7 hours ago Cynthia: definately Steph... Cynthia: Georgia did youget my message--forward from Vanessa... AKTATTER: wtg Anita! that is an achievement in itself! Winkerbill: I mean the tatting - once you've made enough of those little hearts, you've memorized the pattern, then all you need is a small ball of thread and your shuttle. Rosemarie: Has anyone had trouble carrying their tatting onto an airplane? Winkerbill: and you're good to go AKTATTER: yes I got Vaness registered this am thanks Cynthia: not with a shuttle I haven't heard of anyone trying with a tattingneedle tho AKTATTER: no me! although I did have to explain the cosmetic case full of tatting shuttles once Cynthia: right now they are mostly worried about liquids.... Cynthia: you wouldn't to us...lol did you offer a demo? Rosemarie: I had a crochet hook in my carry on - the young man behind the exray machine said, "I don't know what I'm llokin' at." Needless to say, I had to open everything! Winkerbill: hmm....I carried my tatting on a plane....had a plastic shuttle with a pick. Also had a full-size pair of sewing shears in my carryon (forgot they were there) and a nail clipper. Guess which one they confiscated....? Angela from x.x.x.29 joined the chat 7 hours ago Cynthia: nail clipper? Winkerbill: Yep, the nail clippers. Huge scissors, no problem. Eensy weensy fingernail clippers? Oh, they're wicked things....! ;-) Angela: Hello everyone AKTATTER: actually yes! I also have the "patience" shuttle in my change purse, so I just whipped it out and tatted a ring et Voila! all better Cynthia: LOL AKTATTER: hi y aAngela Rosemarie: What's a patience shuttle? Cynthia: the handy shuttle to use when your patience is wearing thin waiting for something Angela: He Georgia, I am getting ready to go to Alaska next week. AnitaL76: winkerbill.... seriously????? Rosemarie: Oh - OK Winkerbill: The more ...um....agitated I am about something, the more tatting stuff I carry with me. If I'm upset or uneasy about something (like speaking in public or something like that), or in a bad mood, I carry TONS of stuff. AKTATTER: so true! my change purse has a little pocket on the front where I keep one shuttle and I just work rings joining them to gether at odss points Winkerbill: seriously. Clip your nails before you leve, and if it's a long trip, plan on buying another clipper when you get there. ....sigh.... Cynthia: I thought I was the only one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AKTATTER: odd points just to demonstrate with or do keep my temper under control during unanticipated waits Sharren from x.x.x.181 joined the chat 7 hours ago Cynthia: many of us hate waiting!!!!!!!!! AnitaL76: hmmmmm must think you are going to force the pilot to clip his nails??? shesh Winkerbill: I carry around "favorite" patterns in my head....usually small things....so I am usually "working" on something when I'm trying to be patient. Sharren: Hi, Georgia! Long time no see!! AKTATTER: Alaska oh how nice you be sure to take that metal tatting shuttle with you, you know the one with your ssn engraved on it Winkerbill: Hi SHarren AKTATTER: Sharren how nice you were able to join us. Angela: yes, I will be sure to get one r eady. I hope to be tatting storks while I am there AKTATTER: the floor is still open for al beginning needle tatting questions Sharren: Gotta love these Federal Holidays... Winkerbill: I hate to do it, but I've got to let DH use the computer.... work really cuts into your "free" time sometimes.... AKTATTER: regular class starts at the hour AnitaL76: I need to get a container for some tatting stuff..... deffinatly doing a lot of waiting lately in dr offices.... could be doing something useful :) AKTATTER: come back when you can Steph meowy from x.x.x.74 joined the chat 6 hours ago Cynthia: drat Wink ...it is good to see you again... Winkerbill: I'll try to get back to class later, or if not "later," then "tonight," I hope. Winkerbill: bye for now. Winkerbill from x.x.x.47 left the chat 6 hours ago Sharren: Bye AKTATTER: get one of those mini mm tubes, holds 2 wound shuttles picot gauge and hook Cynthia: plus you get to eat the mini mm's AnitaL76: lol not in my house..... 3 kids would fight me for them Angela: which is the plus side to the mini's Sharren: I like the Altoids size containers -- and sometimes you can get the Whitmans Cynthia: those work too AnitaL76: hmmmmmm I keep thinking of those but then I look at the amount of stuff I want to bring.... yup I need to pack lighter Sharren: Had a dr. appt today -- first thing the nurse practitioner asked was "what are you working on today!?" Cynthia: they wise up to us don't they...my Asthma Dr...asks the same thing... AKTATTER: lol I bet I hear that tomorrow as my annual is in the morning meowy: hi guys Cynthia: Hi meowy we didn't mean to ignore you Sharren: She knew I'd have something! Raelara: yeah AKTATTER: IS THERE ANYONE NEW HERE TODAY? krystledawne: Si senora AKTATTER: HERE IS ANOTHER ONE THAT I LIKE WELL http://www.georgiaseitz.com/2002/sosabugleflake.html Sharren: I've never been to the 3PM class -- I guess I'm the new one today! cat2tat from x.x.x.68 joined the chat 6 hours ago meowy: that one i love AKTATTER: TECHNICALLY THIS IS not A SNOWFLAKE Raelara: VERY pretty AKTATTER: WELCOME CAT OK SHARREN YOU'RE THE NEWBIE Raelara: Because of the beads? cat2tat: Sorry I'm late - computer problems AKTATTER: SINCE IT HAD 8 POINTS ON IT IT IS NOW A MEDALLION Raelara: ah AKTATTER: BUT IT LOOKS LIKE A SNOWFLAKE krystledawne: We don't descrimin-tat here against eight legged flakes AKTATTER: 1 POINT = CIRCLE 2 POINTS = STRIP 3 POINTS = TRIANGLE Claudia: ok AKTATTER: 4 POINTS = SQUARE/RECTANGLE 5 POINTS = START 6 POINTS = SNOWFLAKE MORE POINTS BECOME MEDALLIONS OR MOTIFS AKTATTER: 5 POINTS = STAR picotsnkeys: Now we'll know who thinks in Geometry....Yikes! Raelara: never thought of tatting in geometric terms before meowy: hehe AKTATTER: NOTICE HERE IN THE BUGLE FLAKE THAT BOTH THE BARETHREAD OF ONE SHUTTLE WORK AND THE CHAIN OS TWO SHUTTLE WORK ARE REPLACED BY BUGLE BEADS Raelara: the bugle flake could be adapted to be a six pointed flake though maria alcant: wow! i have to go after to check all this marvellus info..... krystledawne: That would make a great ball drape huh, then you wouldn't have to worry about starch Jenny: and bugles don't take as long to "tat" as chains picotsnkeys: would it cup into a bowl with just 6 points? krystledawne: Lol jenny Raelara: it might Jenny: A bowl shape would be good for a ball Raelara: I was just going to say that krystledawne: bad for ahircuts though krystledawne: haircuts* Raelara: lol krystledawne: Lol things are never as funny when you mistype them krystledawne: THis pattern could possibly save my tail on finishing all of my ornaments krystledawne: I'll need a Tatsy for all them beads though.... Cynthia: but some of us dyslexic read it correctly anyway...lol Raelara: a Tatsy??? picotsnkeys: did we lose Georgia to a storm front? AnitaL76: lol I was thinking the same thing cynthia :) Cynthia: Tatsy=big shuttle.. AKTATTER: NO I'M JUST LISTENING Raelara: ah Raelara: like a knotting shuttle Raelara: I actually have one of those krystledawne: They are monstrous maria alcant: ..... Cynthia: we write so fast she can't get a letter in edgewise...lol picotsnkeys: big, but good for beads AKTATTER: IF YOU USE JUST ONE SHUTTLE ON THE BUGLE FLAKE LEAVE A VERY LONG TAIL Sharren: Hold tons of thread, but challenging to maneuver Claudia: - AKTATTER: YOU CAN USE THE LONG TAIL TO MAKE A SPLIT RING TO CLIMB FROM THE CENTER OUT Cynthia: and thread it thru the bead? picotsnkeys: ah... Raelara: that would make it a lot easier krystledawne: MM smarty Raelara: just thread a bead on after the split ring, I suspect AKTATTER: NOW CHECK THIS OUT AKTATTER: http://www.georgiaseitz.com/classes2001/flatangel.html krystledawne: what about a sssr? AKTATTER: THIS IS A FLAT ANGEL AKTATTER: EXACTLY RIGHT CYN Jane Eb from x.x.x.234 joined the chat 6 hours ago AKTATTER: WELCOME JANE! Raelara: Hi Jane! Good to see you! Raelara: that gives me an idea . . . Cynthia: Hi Jane... Jenny: Hi Jane AKTATTER: HMM PLEASE SHARE RAE Cynthia: and your idea Rae or are you keeping it to yourself? Jane Eb: Sorry, guess who forgot?!?!?!? # 3 is out for the evening!! Jane Eb: Hey, y'alll I'm still speaking Southern!! krystledawne: I had to set an alarm Jane lol picotsnkeys: mine never woke up today....zzzzz Raelara: sorry, I was just thinking that this angel would be pretty cool as part of a little scene Angela: Jane as long as #3 is out can she look for my stork's body? Raelara: make her, a few stars, maybe some animals, and couch them onto a pillow or something meowy: that would be neat krystledawne: Cute Rae Cynthia: and my #5 too... picotsnkeys: very pretty Jenny: I'd like her in white with a siver edge to the wingsa AKTATTER: WELCOME JANE WHAT EVER YOU ARE SPEAKING LOL Jenny: Silver! AKTATTER: NICE IDEA RAE Cynthia: sounds neat Rae...or added to a lamp shade... AKTATTER: THIS ANGEL NEEDS A SPLIT RING AND SPLIT CHAIN OR TOOO, BUT IT IS NOT COMPLICATED AKTATTER: AND YOU COUOLD SURE ADD SOME BEADS TO IT Sharren: Beads would be lovely! AKTATTER: JANE WE ARE CHECKING OUT THE SNOFLAKE LIST http://www.georgiaseitz.com/2009/snowflakelist.html maria alcant: a agree! krystledawne: We are getting ready for a tatted blizzard lol Claudia: . Sharren: Sure beats the real kind! Cynthia: with angel's thrown in too Cynthia: and a candy cane or two krystledawne: yep! krystledawne: and a partridge in a pear tree Jane Eb: that's a lot of snowflakes. WOW AKTATTER: THIS ONE ALSO USES BUGLE BEADS AKTATTER: http://www.georgiaseitz.com/classes2001/grovesflake.html Jane Eb: I'm working on something Christmassy at the moment. AKTATTER: BUT HERE YOUCOULD ADD ALL TH BUGLES AS THE JOINS ARE MADE meowy: i like that one too Claudia: i like the colours of ti! AKTATTER: EXCEPT FOR THE LSAT ONE WHERE YOU CLIMB OUT WITH THE SPLIT RING krystledawne: Yes Jane and you have to tat them all lol cat2tat: pretty! AKTATTER: ACTUALLY THREAD JUST ONE BUGLE, JUST WIND THE FIRST SHUTTLE AND TAT THOSE FIRST 6 RINGS Jane Eb: No probs - an evening's work!!! NO WAY, krystledawne!!! AKTATTER: MOVE THE BUGLE INTO PLACE Jenny: Jane will probably finish them all by tomorrow. She's a jet propelled tatter AKTATTER: THEN WIND OFF ENOUGHT THREAD FOR THE OTHER SHUTTLE krystledawne: Lol AKTATTER: PULL THE TAI LTHRU THE BUGLE THEN WIND THE SHUTTLE/ krystledawne: I'm going to bake cookies to entice her brain cell to come for a visit lol krystledawne: maybe I'll get some tatting done then lol AKTATTER: AS YOU CAN SEE FOR NEEDLE TATTERS IT IS EASIER Raelara: not enough easier to get me to want to pull my needles out though picotsnkeys: I was just thinking I'd try with a needle first....it looked easier....lol Raelara: needle tatting takes too many brain cells Angela: is that a plug for us to learn needle tatting again!!! AKTATTER: IT DOES HAVE MANY USES ANGELA picotsnkeys: no...just an admission of laziness AKTATTER: NOT FOR A BIT OF CLASS TRY THIS ONE BY SUE HANSON maria alcant: the last one is great! AKTATTER: http://www.georgiaseitz.com/classes2/blocktat/hanson.html Angela: I know, but I am just not getting the hang of it. Jane Eb: I tried needle tatting once years ago and didn't like it one bit!!!!! Sharren: It does come in handy to know needle tatting. meowy: that one looks hard AKTATTER: IT HIGHLIGHTS BLOCK TATTING Cynthia: or another way to have fun!!!!!!!!! krystledawne: I've never done block tatting AKTATTER: YOU CAN SUBTITUTE A TATTED BLOCK FOR A CHAIN OR A SPLIT RING krystledawne: any good tutorials around? Raelara: WOW krystledawne: Oh the pic is down for me....it was up last night though AKTATTER: www.georgiaseitz.com/classes2/blocktat/block.html Cynthia: yes..and they are easier than you think... krystledawne: nvm there it is lol Raelara: that is pretty cool AKTATTER: jANE DO YOU HAVE A HOW-2 FOR THE BLICK POSTED? AKTATTER: AFTER ALL THE BLOCK IS JUST A SERIES OF SHORT CHAINS JOINED TO EACH OTHER AT EACH END Jane Eb: Yes, hang on Jane Eb: This is the 'cheating' way http://www.e.n.e.btinternet.co.uk/BlockTatting.pdf AKTATTER: OH THANKS maria alcant: ufff! G... is a lot of info......i am realy running... AKTATTER: JANES DIAGRAMS ARE SO HELPFUL! Raelara: cheating is good . . . krystledawne: I love Jane's cheats Jane Eb: Funnily Jules Patterson came up with this way too and thought it was the 'proper' way to do block tatting. I've never been a 'proper' person!!! AKTATTER: WELL YOU HAVE ALL SUMMER TO WORK ON THEM MARIA JUST KEEP YOUR LIST HANDY Jenny: I saw a bit on a website once about wetting snowflakes with a solution of Epsom salts to make the sparkly, has anyone ever tried it? Claudia: i like jane´s diagrams AKTATTER: NOT I Jane Eb: Thanks, Claudia - signs of a misspent old age - not youth!!!! Raelara: sounds interesting maria alcant: jane...i used your "style" to tatt blocks and is so easy to do them...thanks!!! AKTATTER: NOW HERE IS ONE WITH ANOTHER TECHNIQUE HIGHLIGHTED ONION RINGS! Claudia: they are so clear jane! which is the drawing program you use fot them? Cynthia: I did and it was ok but without colorful lights to reflect from it the sparkle is just plain AKTATTER: http://www.georgiaseitz.com/books/pfn/wsorflk.html Jane Eb: I'd never use sugar syrup for stiffening. I've had things go yellow that I did years ago. Not sure of Epsom salts, though. Peronally I prefer to stiffen with diluted PVA glue but even better than that is to get a tight tension!!! AKTATTER: http://www.georgiaseitz.com/2002/onion/onion.html Raelara: I used sugar syrup when I stiffened the basket I made for the Bocher book, but it is colored so I don't htink it would go yellow Jane Eb: I use Serif DrawPlus, Claudia. It only runs on a PC and I'm shortly going to change to a mac so will have to find and learn a new piece of software!! AKTATTER: so often if YOU JUST WET THE TATED LACE IT HOLDS THE BODY WELL Claudia: thanks jane meowy: that's cool how it's ring in ring AKTATTER: THE ONION RING IS A RING SURROUNDED BY A RING (NOT A CHAIN) AKTATTER: IT USES A BALL THREAD OR RING THREAD JOIN NOT A SHUTTLE LOCK JOIN Raelara: any freeware programs that could do diagrams?? AKTATTER: USING THE BALL/RING THREAD JOIN MAKES THE RING CONTINUE TO SLIDE WHERE THE USE OF THE SLJ WOULD NOT ALLOW IT TO CLOSE AKTATTER: YES AND IF YOU USE A VARIEGATED THREAD YOU CAN WORK IT SO EACH RING IS A DIFFERENT COLOR TOO Jenny: Serifdraw has a free version Claudia: raelara , i think serif draw plus has a free version picotsnkeys: I gave up trying to learn a new one and am using Power Point Raelara: could this join be used in place of the catherine wheel join? Cynthia: I say whatever works.... Jane Eb: Yes but the free version is very old and flaky. I'm currently researching software for a mac krystledawne: depends if you want a ring on top or not fo rhte CW join right? maria alcant: ....i have to start soon...there are many i like.. Jane Eb: Trouble with some drawing programmes is that they don't allow you to 'curve' the chains and other 'stuff'!!! AKTATTER: yes it could but it would make a dimple Raelara: I was thinking of the circular blocks on last week's sun pattern Jenny: I think Serif Draw SE is better than the old free version AKTATTER: http://www.georgiaseitz.com/verna/vernaflake.html maria alcant: yes....and you can grow it up...for no many $ AKTATTER: tHIS FLAKE IS A LESSON IS ADAPTING ANTIQUE PATTERNS TO MODERN USES AKTATTER: WE ALL CAN DO THIS Raelara: interesting AKTATTER: YES AND NOTE HOW I NTHE THIRD VERSION KATIE COVERED THE LONG PICOTS WITH BUGLE BEADS AS THEY WERE JOINED meowy: i'm definititely getting me some beads this weekend AKTATTER: YOU ALL KNOW THAT BUGLE BEADS COMES IN SEVERA L DIFFERENT LENGTHS Jenny: Yes and ther shop never has the length you want in the colour you want !!! Sharren: True! Raelara: you can order beads online from oriental trading company, I think. Dunno if they have bugle beads or not maria alcant: always hapend ...jaja picotsnkeys: great idea for a design that doesn't quite work.....add beads! Raelara: lol AKTATTER: AND WHAT TREE IS COMPLETE WITH A TATTED HEART maria alcant: go G go! Claudia: beads change the appearance AKTATTER: NOW AS YOU WORK THESE SNOWFLAKES IN THE COMING WEEKS DO TRY TO SEND IN SOME PHOTOS TO ADD TO THE PAGES krystledawne: Yes mam Cynthia: it always looks good that way...the star spangled sun catcher would work with bugle beads too... AKTATTER: :) AND DON'T FORGET THE TOP OF EVERY PAGE HAS A HEART YOU CAN USE ALSO Claudia: ok G AKTATTER: NOW FOR A CHANGE OF PACE ============================================================ Created at Chatzy.com The Online Tatting Class http://www.chatzy.com/695768390662 Transcript as of Tue Oct 13 01:50:48 2009 GMT (130 KB) Page 2 of 3 - Char 51203 to 102420 - Newest entries at the bottom ============================================================ Cynthia: that was the eginning class 1st special event! AKTATTER from x.x.x.202 joined the chat 107 minutes ago Winkerbill: hi Georgia! AKTATTER: hello all AKTATTER: wow we ar all aloneStepg Winkerbill: I think we are.... Winkerbill: I've been trying to decide which snowflake I'm going to make for ME....sew it onto a new shirt.... AKTATTER: well this is the beginning needle tatting evening session Winkerbill: Taking one of Nina Libin Winkerbill: classes at Tat Days created a mini-monster, too.... Winkerbill: I've been playing with beads like never before. Winkerbill: (and spilling them....Gary is SO patient, the poor man) AKTATTER: :) I've been toying with the idea of making a 6-ring flower garland using split rings to travel across Winkerbill: let's see....I seem to remember one of the snowflakes on the list being tatted with the needle Winkerbill: with bugle beads, maybe? AKTATTER: I bought 5 packs ofbeads before I even got home from tat days Winkerbill: oh my, you're almost as bad as I am, then. Winkerbill: What were you going to put the garland on? AKTATTER: yes this one I think http://www.georgiaseitz.com/classes2001/grovesflake.htm Winkerbill: oh yes, that was it! Winkerbill: I've been toying with the idea of making teeny tiny snowflakes with really small thread - size 100 or smaller, if I can get it.... Winkerbill: trimming a mini-tree (maybe a 12 inch tree) with them. AKTATTER: try this link for me just reposted the photos http://www.georgiaseitz.com/2004/plaits/rpcane.html Winkerbill: then tatting a garland for the tree using small thread and some sort of metallic filament. AKTATTER: oh a mini tree would ne great Winkerbill: everything showed up except the first picture. AKTATTER: ok let me try that one again Winkerbill: I did mini trees for Mom and my MIL about ....6 or 7 years ago, I think - 18 inch trees (but the 'tree' part was only about 12 inches, the "pot" part was about 6" tall) Winkerbill: everything done in quilting thread.... Winkerbill: every ornament on the tree "unique," although both trees had many of the same ornaments....there were a few I only did one each of, though. Winkerbill: pdf candy cane pattern didn't work, either. I'm still trying things out.... AKTATTER: can't find the 1st photo in the files nor that pdf yet still looking the entire plaits file was lost on the other server Winkerbill: I'm still clicking on links....the "split ring" one wasn't a split ring page....not sure if the link needs to be changed or what. Winkerbill: what gorgeous ideas - I think I like the candle at the bottom the best. AKTATTER: me too was always my favorite esp with the rose top Winkerbill: yeah, that rose on top is lovely. Winkerbill: Aha! The SCMR snowflake has beads! I've got a red t-shirt (also have a hot pink one), planning to make white snowflakes/medallions/whatever with relatively big silver seed beads. Cynthia: they are fun to do AKTATTER: IT TAKES 6 POINTS TO BE A SNOWFLAKE IF IT IS STRUCTURALLY CORRECT Cynthia: many of them do... celticdreamweave: I think that is why I keep thinking motifs AKTATTER: RUTH I AM GLAD TO SEE YOU TONIGHT celticdreamweave: you can connect alot of them together and make something big....like ahemmm a tablecloth turned into a shawl AKTATTER: THE ONION RING IS MADE BY SURROUNDING A RING WITH ANOTHER RING Paule: I did not have much time to tat in the summer and now I realize how much I missed it! AKTATTER: YOU CAN GET A SIMILAR EFFECT BY CHAINING AROUND A RING celticdreamweave: like the Whtie thing I drag to tatting and lacing events...LOL AKTATTER: BUT THE ONION RING JOIN WHICH IS A BALLTHREAD OR RING THREAD JOIN ALLOWS AKTATTER: US TO STACK THE RINGS UP LIKE LAYERS OF ANONION katie v/occhitat: k AKTATTER: IT IS ADDICTING ISN'T IT RUTH! AKTATTER: RUTH SINCE YOU ARE HANDY Paule: Whtie thing? RuthP: Oh Yeah! Cynthia: me too... AKTATTER: DON'T GIVE UP YET SHERRY YOU HAVE TO FINISH Winkerbill: that one's my favorite, too. AKTATTER: WHAT NEAT EFFECTS WE CAN GET WITH JUST CHAINS Cynthia: but it could be a shawl not a bedspread...couldn't it and still be finished... Paule: Unfortunately I cannot opn the the picture of the candy plaits: there is a square with a little red X... AKTATTER: IT IS GREAT KATIE ESP IN THE STRUCTURE AKTATTER: IT SHOWS FLOATING RINGS LONG PICOTS AND PICOTS PULLED THRU EACH OTHER ALSO Barb: love the beads being substituted. celticdreamweave: I think in adding the beads to the flake you made the flake more sturdier AKTATTER: AND THE SECOND VERSION SHOWS THE BUGLE BEAD AGAIN IN ACTION COVERING THE LONG PICOTS celticdreamweave: I bet it isn't as floppy Gail: Could put hairpin lace in the center? Maybe? Barb: Could a person substitute josephine knots too? I don't know enough about tatting yet to know if that would be possible. Barb: where the bugles are? Winkerbill: I was thinking you could make those long picots twisted picots. Might have to starch it heavily to keep its shape, though. AKTATTER: LENORE DID A HAIRPIN LACE AND TATTING FLAKE FOR US www.georgiaseitz.com/classes2/hp/english.html AKTATTER: http://www.georgiaseitz.com/classes2/hp/english.html Winkerbill: that one is lovely, too. Used metalic filament in them and they were so pretty. AKTATTER: YOU ALL RECALL THAT TO BE A REAL SNOWFLAKE THE DESIGN MUST HAVE 6 POINT AKTATTER: BUT YOU CAN START WITH A DESIGN THAT IS NOTIN THE ROUND AND STILL ACHIEVE A SNOW FLAK Cynthia: true but if it has more is it a star or just a motif? AKTATTER: THIS LESSON SHOWED HOW WE TOOK AN OLD PATTERN AGAIN AKTATTER: 5 POINTS = START MORE THAN 6 POINTS = MEDALLIONS ORMOTIFS celticdreamweave: Ruth I Must have missed out on your flower tatting book AKTATTER: AN EDGING AND EVETUALLY MADE A REPEAT OF 6 AND THAT TURNED INTO THE SNOWFLAKE celticdreamweave: I have seen some diamond snowflakes patterns Barb: I did not know that a snowflake had to have six points. celticdreamweave: I didn't either Barb AKTATTER: AND JUST LOOK AT WHAT ADDING BEADS DID TO THIS SIMPLE PATTERN!
