Design Notes Birthday Flowers of the Month Booklet
To be used as a fundraiser for the Palmetto Tatters Guild's
Scholarship Fund
JANUARY: CARNATION or Snowdrop
FEBRUARY: IRIS or Violet or Primrose
We have one Iris pattern 9/07
MARCH: DAFFODIL or Jonquil
APRIL: DAISY or Sweet Pea
MAY: LILY or Lily of the Valley or Hawthorn
JUNE: ROSE or Honeysuckle
JULY: DELPHINIUM or Larkspur or Water Lily
AUGUST: GLADIOLA or Poppy
SEPTEMBER: ASTER or Morning Glory
OCTOBER: MARIGOLD or Calendula or Cosmos
NOVEMBER: CHRYSANTHEMUM
DECEMBER: Poinsettia or Narcissus or Holly
The class project is to prepare patterns for all the birthday flowers of the month booklet and to donate it to the Palmettos Tatting Guild to be used as a fund raiser for the Scholarship fund. We need to decide if we will include ONLY new patterns. We need to consider also if we want only one pattern per flower or a variety of patterns for each type of flower. We also need to consider adding patterns for leaves.

Then look at an old familar edging you have tatted many times and study the last part of this lesson done by Janet Fenton:

And finally look what can be designed with a plain ol' ring and chain repeat:
