I've not seen it but I AM going to Palmetto!!! oh ys and we must chat more about that too I'm fine, thanks, Georgia - got a date for my procedures!!! Tatter to chang eyour name type /nick yourname oh good hope it is not a long wait *** Tatter is now known as Cher I mean investigations. They might find a brain - keep your fingers crossed lol well let's hope they find ONLY a brain :) helo cher! hi everyone here you go Georgia http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HP6-qIiDDCc its only a video open to everyone Hello Cher and welcome thank you G - I have gotten all moved to Fla. Still don't have a job, but working on it thanks well getting settled is half the battle Jane has "anyone" moved in with you recently? still not settled but working on that too No, not sure what you're talking about? I'm up to mischief but nobody's moved in - unless it's more fleas!!! tat people Jane are all those tatted friend moved already Have you been working on any projets Cher? I seem to have started a whole new non paying vocation in my old age! I'm teaching an hour a week at our library on computers!! Also other odd folks and friends in their own homes! haven't been doing any tatting lately, but I am working on a crochet afghan nice cher No, no tat people!!! I'm thinking of one or two but mischief is taking up all my time at the moment!!!! Darn, lost my shuttles!!! Off to look for 'em!! teaching computers? not tatting? lol Found 'em - not funny their Aero's and I was sitting on one!!! one day I am going to do one of the cro-tat afghans but not during the summer Computing for 'silver surferes'. One of my students was 90!! i stop counting how many time i say in a day i lost my tatting stuff ouch! hope it was pointless just plain ol' crochet, not cro-tat No, it had a point!!! Point was downwards thank goodness!!!! Might've stabbed my brain!!! lol Jane Meme is ok she is good tatter and very helful, She often helps vet anyone who sends up bad estefania vibes I hope that you can help her. well since it is just us shall we do the lesson material?? I had fun translating the music notes - Christel Weidmann!! willing to help anyone with their tatting if they are in the area that is great Cher thanks sure Georgia Oh, thanks, thought Meme was sound!! Christel's work is way cool about Cheryl's collar http://www.georgiaseitz.com/2007/cbirchcollar.html the only special note is that the chains can be done without the rw by wrapping instead of tatting using the direct method instead of tatting means one else repositioning of the hand and theard thread in the photo the chains show up squiggly but with blocking they woul dmake an "s" form no questions? ok the bracelets by Venessa http://www.georgiaseitz.com/2007/vgodfreybracelet.html Venessa shared this pattern in her class at Spokane Shuttlebirds workshop in April Ooooh, just got the link to work - lovely collar and VERY clever. after getting the fastener button attached yes Cheryl did a nice job on that and threading the beads the next is pearl tatting altough Venessa has written the pattern bracelets are very pretty so that you are directed to to rw turning the work from side to side if you wrap the one side of the peral tatted chain Have you seen Teri's bracelet on her blog? You have to scroll down a bit http://theloversknot.blogspot.com/ ou have more economy of motion oh let's look hey those are good looking which did you like best? the lover's knot or the dog ? lol indeed they are both for Venessa's bracelets, the split ring is wrapped around the acccent bead ;) the third shuttle drops through to the back and it is used almost like making an alligator (or capture join ) She's so clever is Teri and she does a lot of finger tatting to make the turtles etc but here we are requested to actually tie a knot to secure the bead How does she do that? yes I see Teri's note about finger tatting *** Tatter has joined #tatchat *** katelingo has joined #tatchat Hi everyone! welcome Kate I usually just add the bead to a SR by pulling the core thread down from the centre as you do for an ornery ring. You need the bead to fit the ring, though an finally a self closing mock ring makes the fastening loop to go over the end button/bead yes there aer many ways to get the bead into the center of the ring sorry I'm late hope late too *** Tatter is now known as Hope Which is the best way do you think? I favor Hopie!!!! Hi Hope Hello Kate and Hope hugs welcome hi love I favor pulling the core thread thru the bead and anchoring at the top prior to closing the split ring but it can be anchored at the botto, just as easily i like your way better jane gotta run ladies. someone at door. have a great class *** Cher has quit IRC (Quit: Tatters 4 forever!) bye cher Thanks, Katia but is it the best way? I'm always looking for a better way have you seen some of the photos of the pearl and gem encrusted work by K. Hoare, and Queen MArie? I think the way I do the bead in the SR is OK as long as the bead fits the centre of the SR snugly. If it doesn't it makes the SR sorta soggy!! those embellishments were SEWN on afterwards soggy- very descriptive.. Jana's way of keeping the cente r beads on separate thread allows them to float on the ring if necessary brb raining here Jane Raining here too, Hope AGAIN!!! It's been doing it for days and I'm soggy now!! its raining also here since yesterday and were going to have that for 2 more days I must try Jana's way. well with drought conditions we sure need it we sure do Hope .....it sound that you have the same weather that im having up here hope Katie thre are 2 newbies anxious to get intot he classroom I told them you would emial them before class ok? sweet ... sure will are they on aim if so give them my nick http://www.georgiaseitz.com/2002/beads/beadbasics.html Jana Nicol Holly near the bottom ok will ask themn Hope how is your broken arm? I got to try the caramel prtezel klondike bar but just one chocolate is noe permanently banned along with pizza type stuff fingers nasty and skin peeling like a lizzard now- catch on everything glad to be over this I hope it is over soon ok are there any questions about the two patterns? banned?? I need to get Many thansk to Venessa and Cheryl for sharing their patterns Alan to buy me more and thanks to the Palmettos Tatting Guild for the sneak peek at the Tatting Hands video too Jane i found the hard way that when you use 3 thread the 3 rd for the bead if that one break you can loose alot of bead instead of just one Hope my biopsy report came back Sat. :) no cancer :) I am hazardous typing with the cast- never know what button I will hit lol hooray! :))) 04hooray!!! celebration time!! Kati since the thread carrying the bead does not come into play it can be heavier than the tattting threads but still the same color and all works out ok I'm SO pleased for you Georgia but sorry about the chocolate! bummer about the choc but small trade off why no chocolate?? tomato stuff will be hard tho can we tat without?? think about ketsup pizza sphagetti Katia - I'll play with that sounds a bit more work but may well be worth it. Hope I don't know but it is the top of the banned list banned why?? I guess I will just have to settle for showering with chocolate btw JAne i love your SCMR bookmark the disease is called Barrett's esophagus In Hershey Pa you can have a spa bath in it... and some foods stimulate chemical which worsens the condition wow Hershey's here I come OH DEAR... only tomatos goergia or verything that is acid base Ooooh, they're going down my throat too in a coupla weeks - hope they don't find I've got that too. Couldn't do without chocolate!! Poor AKA safe for you to come visit- my zero bar would be safe I am beginning to think nearly everything acid will be banned I have another dr visit Wed and 3 on Fri so I will know more about it Thanks Katia - that's one of the very few patterns of mine that I do again and again as it's SO easy!!!! I'm very lazy!! thats a lot of visits... dont just think it georgia assume that they will tell you that at one point ... they id told that to my mom it'sgoing to be hard to tat without a little chocolate pick me up well I am ready for it Katia lol oh groan zero bars well anyway many thanks to al lfor stopping by today try something else ... i think im the only tatter who does nt eat chocolate this lesson repeats tonight at 8:30PM ET love you... wuz Patch for me and the beginners class has a meet and greet WEd 9PM ET tomorrow hosted by me :) Good luck Jane that's right! Katia is on duty for Wed. bye all bye Kate Thanks Hope!! Will e you privately. bye all good bye all bye hope take care Session Close: Tue May 15 14:56:21 2007 Session Start: Tue May 15 19:35:26 2007 *** Now talking in #tatchat May 15, 2007 evening session *** Tatter has joined #tatchat *** Tatter is now known as tatcat15 *** tatcat15 is now known as tatcat14 Hi hello glad to see someone! How are you? looks everyone is home watching the cma event I am fine ?cma I got a clear report on the biopsy country music awards wonderful cbs 3 hours sepcial very relieved how anre you doing? lol i do not whatch much tv doin fine here good to hear it did you have any questions for me tonight? all the kids are healthy, mom is over pnomonia that is great news Only the collar oh good the second row is fine for the split rings but the chains seem to be out of place yes they do sort of floppy. the chainis tatted tatted joined and tatted to the mid point then Cheryl suggests a RW and to tat the rest of the chian join and chain rw to do the ring again this makes a color change also however, the chain forms a "s" and it would need to be blocked to lie flat and show properly *** Mimi has joined #tatchat howver, that chain could also be tatted then wrapped instead of the rw mid way hello mimi! Good evening. Where is everyone? Did they not understand Tues\day? LOL I showed up on monday with out thinking then I went to AK's site I guess the competition of the CMA award show was too much lol LOL Mimi there are 3 newbies for the meet and greet tomorrow Katia says she is standing by did you have any questions mimi? Nice to hear of more newbies. Katia will cover tomorrow as I'm going to Vancouver BC for the BC Lace Clubs Annual Luncheon super No questions. Nice patterns that all appeared at once! yes and did you see the Palmettos Tatting Hands video sneak peek? Cheryl's chains in the collar are interesting, I've never seen that before ooo yes Yes I saw the video, nice of you to lend your voice and hands! Venessa shared her patterns from her class at Shuttlebirds lol it was a riot I was glad to see Venessa's pattern since I couldn't take her class Ican't believe it is me talking do I really sound like thta? *** Tatter has joined #tatchat there is one method of tatting that I am trying to adopt too I recognized your voice before the credits. welcome tatter *** Tatter is now known as Terry hi ya terry Hi guys Hey Terry hi Terry did you have any questions for me tonight? I just looked at the video. Do thely have slowed down sections? What version are you trying to adopt too? it is the one where the tatter has two threads always on the left hand Why do I get myself involved in tatting exchanges??? i want to learn the speed tatting they show great detail terry but I don't know abuot the speed *** Tatter has joined #tatchat *** Tatter has quit IRC (Quit: Tatter) Slow & steady is my speed. 2 threads on the left hand... was that in the teaser? *** Tatter has joined #tatchat some tatters I couldn't see the threads at all on my screen the speed tatting you mean ehre you never let go of the shuttle? I think it wasn't on the teaser *** Tatter has quit IRC (Quit: Tatters 4 forever!) *** Tatter has joined #tatchat it is about the last one on the video *** Tatter is now known as Katia i studied it for hours just trying to see what she was doing welcome katia that is what i do but the movement of the shuttle fingers is different than mine *** Katia is now known as KatiaGood katia, mimi, the newbie lillian is 87 years old! I just saw the teaser segment and they talked about all the methods and I saw right hand & left hand but it was all way too fast for a newbie' Nice thanks goodness for the repeat buttons and the speed buttons ont he dvds I love getting newbies that age in classes that is what I used to make it go slower Never too old to learn my ring finger controls the shed of the shuttle thread Wow 87! BJ will be jealous to be beaten out :) the shed? speed? Hi Katia good to see you They take longer to learn usually but they are so happy once they catch on sorry, weaving term Katia Georgia said there are 3 newbies at least planning to be on line tomorrow nite to make a plain weave you have one thread up and one thread down goergia told me this afternoon *** KatiaGood is now known as Katia then the thread that was up goes down I liked the easy bracelet and already made 2 but added the SSSR to the end. Then all you have to do is snip off the thread. when i tat i tend to think up shed anddown shed for the position of theworking thread mimi I copied the two notes and sent them to you about the newbies And it's sooooo easy to learn the sssr sounds like a good replacement Perfect. no ends so I should use that shed term when describing the alligator join I'll be aer there any other questions? Georgia when did you send? Thanks for sending the reminder since I forgot. But that's all I've had from you today? did you ever make pot holders? just now mimi only the loops ona loom kind terry Thanks I just got them! Knitted and crocheted pot holders but not tatted we had one tatted pot holder in class I'm currently working on an altar cloth that will be 28X43" and I've been at it for 2 months and it will take me at least another 3 mos. to finish it. Do I need to send them welcome messages? Sounds liek they know. when using a loom that has a beater board or a ? crud can't rememer the word Terry that's what my husband would call a MegaTat It is but it's so pretty please do Mimi i did nt had time since im had to prepare for the class im currently teaching http://www.georgiaseitz.com/mum/chains.html Mega Tats can be pretty They're just big!! and time consuming any way when you switch the threads from up to down, it is called a shed I sent a message to each of them Mimi That too :) OK thanks then I can go cook dinner when we're done :) I could use some advice I have to wander off soon. I just thought I'd bop in and say HI i am not certain that shed would work for the aligator join am looking for changes in format to spice up the weekly lesson I like spice oh I do see now that shed would not be correctfor the alligator join i could sure use ideas for the fall This format has been with us for so long now it's hard to imagine a different one Heck, we used the same for the beginners too! that's true i thin capture or encapsulate would work Did you have any ideas to start some brainstorming? We all tend to get in a rut but I don't know a way to improve it. just hoping to increase attendance different night doesn't seem to work monday is sucha fixture True. I liked Sundays better but you said that attendance was falling that evening sigh life gets in tne wayu at times for me. I teach one monday and have my group meet another monday so I can't usually get here I was wondering about a time slot for Aussies/Kiwis yes aol gave so many tatters a hard time about getting inthe the room It would have to be late night I think that is what caused that decline 3 kids, homeschooling, DH, mice So on a Saturday it might owrk for their Sunday if they would like Mice? thank what ever there is that the cat is outside! We don't have to use the AOL room, we could be in the International classroom teh night owl class? But still having to be at it online is better on one night/week anyway You could ask people why they aren't coming back we have pest mice in the house. trying to kill them off Probably a west coast person would have the best chance runing any class for the Asia/Pacific THOSE sort of mice put steel wool around all pipes and access areas tothe outside somehow i have ended up with 3 cages of mice newly caught from my kitchen I did that and it works!! I think a poll would be a good idea if we can get someone to collect/summarize results gads!! now the little@#$ have given birth that's the hard part we have lots of vocal people okwe could doa poll this summer and pick an additional time slot total count is a 10 babies I sympathize Eva... I was housesitting and the cat brought in a pregnant field mouse We found the nest and I'm pretty sure that nicked the problem oh dear that is a nightmare ! But I was minus my winter coat (it chewed up the hood and nested there) the deer mouse and her babies can stay but the feild mouse goes oh no One time I didn't know we had them until I heard them crunching wires in my organ. Pest control to the rescue I hope that some of you have worked with the pattern from last week http://www.georgiaseitz.com/2007/edavisavsquare.html I'm doing bookmarks because I joined another exchange. Ill never learn Eliz is so hopeful that someone will have a design for a follow class next week I'm also working on a really pretty butterfly. I saw the picture on a Polish page but it was only about 1" square I've got it pretty well figured out but now I'm making some changes hoper it comes out Betsy Evans is teaching Jan's method at the natioanl counted cross stitch event in mid june I'll send a picture. I did it in 3 colors but it was done in about 6 colors super terry will look forwardto seeing it ok that is all I have for tonight Working from a 1" picture was quite a challenge. I'll also send a pic of my bracelet. it certainly must be great I'll post them inthe homeowrk too well thanks to al of you for keeping me company tonight Auckland is now 19 hours ahead of me, Perth 15. So my midnight is 3pm Perth and 7pm Auckland next day We need a Hawaiian or Asian teacher :) Gotta run too. Bye all Sorry, isn't Jan's method front/side back side tatting only without the up/down joins?? well it is defintely an intriguing idea, a midnight claws have to put the littles to bed Midnight for me is 2 am for you :) *** Terry has quit IRC (Quit: Tatters 4 forever!) In winter it will get better. Jan makes the picots in mid ds too thanks for the class ok then good night all happy tatting I saw that. It's weird on the joining picots. night *** tatcat14 has left #tatchat Thanks for validating me on Jan, I thought I was nuts i look forward to seeing how betsy presents it Good night! lol nighters Me too , please report :) Session Close: Tue May 15 20:18:59 2007
