Jules' Basket with Flowers

Many thanks to Jules for sharing her pattern with the online tatting class. Using size 20 thread, 2 shuttles or 1 shuttle and ball thread, or tatting needle commence with the flowers.

R: 3 ds, p, (1 ds, p)3x, 3 ds, cl, space (measured)
*R: 3 ds, join to last picot of previous ring, (1 ds, p)3x, 3 ds, cl, space (equal to first space)
Repeat from * twice. Do not cut threads.

Begin basket by attaching ball or second shuttle thread.
CH: 2 ds, tiny p, 2 ds, join to space between next 2 rings.
CH: 2 ds, tiny p, 2 ds, join to space between next 2 rings.
CH: 2 ds, tiny p, 2 ds, join to space between next 2 rings, RW.
*CH: 2 ds, p, 2 ds, join to picot on next chain.
Repeat last chain twice, RW.
CH:2 ds, p, 2 ds, join to picot on next chain.
Repeat last chain twice, RW.
CH: 3 ds, join to next picot.
Repeat last chain twice. Cut thread and secure ends.

Tat handle with ball and shuttle or tie two shuttles threads together; join to base of first ring worked.
CH: 50 ds, join to base of last ring worked. Cut threads and secure ends.

Alternate method of working

Using both threads work the 50 ds for the chain, add one half stitch. Compress chain to enhance the curve of the handle and RW. Using Blue thread tat first ring; using brown thread tat chain; repeat across for the set of rings. Attach to the starting point of the basket handle and RW. Complete basket as above.
