Riet Surtel-Smeulders' Dragonfly

Look what just flew in from Holland! Riet's designed a dragonfly with celtic picots on it!. This was her first attempt at a dragonfly. She started with the square below with the cloverleaf motifs at the points with the large celtic join in the center. Then she read about Bina's overhand knot celtic picot at last week's class and was inspired. Riet says the tricky part is in making the lobes of the picot all equal in thread length. She made these models in size 10 thread for practice and is now trying them out in size 80.

Great work Riet! Thanks for sharing with the online tatting class, too. Don't miss Riet's other dragonfly: Riet's Single Shuttle Split Ring Dragonfly
.
