Session Start: Mon Jan 17 17:25:04 2005 Session Ident: #tatchat * Now talking in #tatchat * Topic is 'Welcome to the tatting online class....Pull up a seat!! Type "/nick name" to change your name!!' * Set by ChanServ on Fri Dec 17 19:15:01 05Hi Mimi, how are you this evening? hi Clunymimi Good evening all! Hello! I'm happy to have had a day off work so that I could be here on time for once :-) I have a question about your class last week, will it be alright if I email you later? Sure Anita. Or you can ask me now if you like. not sure how to word it, Learning the cluny and am curious about how the four joined * Tatter has joined #tatchat * Tatter is now known as Sherry 05Hi Sherry, how are you? * Tatter has joined #tatchat Hello Sherry! hi sherong 4 joined? * Tatter875 has joined #tatchat Hi, this is Sherry Matthews Hi Mouse - I'm just sitting hear reading along yes, the two on one side and two on the other to join each other * Tatter875 is now known as alphaprimavera hi alphaprimavera Hi Roger Okay, I know the spot. What happens is that you made 2 leaves one after the other in the first part of the repeat. allo everyone yes I like to leave a small picot between these 2 leaves. * Tatter is now known as Gale So I make and close the leaf, make a picot closed by a ds, then the other leaf. That picot is very small. * Tatter has joined #tatchat On the way back, I make the 3rd of the 4 leaf cluster hi Gale Hi All Then I join to that very small picot using a standard join or a LHPJ (just not a lock join) lock join leaves a lump Then I can make the last leaf and continue. Does that make sense, Anita? that is what I was wondering! Thank you very much!! I made the page on how to UNDO a cluny: http://www.comnet.ca/~tatsall/TattingTutor/RetroClunying.htm You're welcome! Hi Gale, Hi Mimi I love the cluny at the top of the page! I haven't had the chance to try the instructions yet is it at your site Gale? yes But what I wonder is: by tugging on the top loom thread, do you pull hte leaf out of alignment? no I would have thought you'd need to pull on the bottom first (since it was the last loop to be drawn in) and add some slack? Wow, I guess I'd better give it a try then! No... all you have to do is position the cluny so that the shuttle thread faces you.... and then pull the shuttle thread toward you to flip the loom thread and bring it forward.... make the loop bigger and pass your shuttle through Okay, so you're not actually disturbing any loom thread but the one exiting the top of the leaf. I got Richard to take pictures, but he got creative and missed the point * Mouse^^^ watches a mouse run through the room .......................... ~~( ,,°°> At least he tried! so I made a cluny and undid it and scanned the operation Scans are good, too - close-ups of the threads help. He always gets creative..... and misses the point! He thinks he knows better Men! * Tatter is now known as AKTATTER hi AKTATTER Michelle... you are funny! :) 05LOL, Gale Hi Georgia 05HELLO ALL Hi Teach 05Hi Georgia Evening Georgia 05:) 05MIMI SO GLAD YOU ARE HERE TONIGHT I HAVE A CLUNY QUESTION 05STRUCTURALLY SPEAKING , IS THE A LIMIT TO THE LENGTH OF A CLUNY LEAF? 05IS THERE ANY LIMIT ? great question! 05I AM WORKING ON A FAN PATTERN 05AND FOR THE "STICKS" I WAS THINKING A VERY VERY LONG CLUNY 05BUT IS THAT DUMB?? Good question indeed. The limit is what you can comfortably make on your hand or loom. It's not dumb at all! But you might want to consider an alternative. maybe the limit is the amount of thread in your shuttle! Such as a braid or needle-lace filling. There's a bobbin lace braid that is similar - name escapes me now. But I believe it was 3 or 4 threads. I am not to smart on any of this but seems that the limit would be the pattern you are working with 05WELLMY SECOND THOUGHT WAS PEARL TATTED CHAINS FOR THE RIBS Maybe you could duplicate wiht shuttles. Shall I go check the book? 05WELL sHERRY I AM DESIGNING I AS I GO AND I AM BUT A NOVICE WITH THE CLUNY 05HAVE YOU A MAGIC CLUNY REFERENCE BOOK MIMI? oh good, then the sky would be you limit. LOL No, a bobbin lace making reference book! 05WELL NEEDLEWEAVING IS ALSO A GOOD ALTERNATIVE how can you be a cluny novice when you taught it last year at Hector!!!! If she does I think she wrote it 05WELL GOSH NOT THAT LONG!!! 05i'LL BET YOU ARE RIGHT 05WELLOK I GUESS WE SHOULD GET STARTED 05PLEASE SIGN IN Gale and Mimi thank you the exchange between you was very enlightening to a newbie Mimi Dillman, Snohomish, WA ntrop ntrop@ix.netcom.com 05GEORGIA SEITZ GREENUP ILLINOIS USA AKTATTER @AOL.COM 05JAN. 17, 2005 05http://www.georgiaseitz.com/2005/barkertrio.html Alison Oskam aoskam@earthlink.net Bath, PA Gale Marshall, Frigid, aka Ottawa, Canada, tatsall@comnet.ca Sheron Goldin, sherongb@yahoo.com, Columbia, SC 05Roger aka Freedman, Shiloh, New Jersey Sherry Matthews, Texas, cold, Paule Primeau Boucherville Quebec Canada 05SO NICE TO SEE YOU AL LHERE TONIGHT 07and for those who missed it......the link to the retrocluny page is: http://www.comnet.ca/~tatsall/TattingTutor/RetroClunying.htm 05AREN'T YOU GLAD THAT YOU ARE AT HOME WARM AND SAFE 05SUCH STRANGE WEATHER WE HAVE THESE DAYS Anita Russell, baruss402@yahoo.com, Oklahoma 05OK TONIGHT THE LESSON IS A BLAST FROM THE PAST 05THIS PAGE FROM NEEDLECRAFT MAGAZINE IS TORN OUT SO i DO NOT HAVE THE DATE. 05IF YOU RECOGNIZE IT PLEASE LET ME KNOW 05BESSIE BARKER 05I WONDER WHO SHE WAS ANd WHERE SHE LIVED 05WE MAY NEVER KNOW BUT MANY THANKS TO HER FOR SHARING HER LOVE OF TATTING WITH US Michele Waite upper central ny mousemicw#yahoo dot com 05FOR THOE WHO PRINTED THE LESSON EARLY AN ADDITIONA AND TWO CORRECTIONS WERE MADE 05SO PLEAS HAND CORRECT YOUR COPY OR REPRINT 05ARE THERE ANY NEW TATTERES IN THE ROOM TONIGHT? 05NO?
