Snowflake/Star of David Ornament Ball Beaded Version

String beads onto thread (following directions below for desired version) and put all beads onto the S2 side and then wind approximately 3 yards size 20 thread wound onto each of 2 shuttles, CTM.

Version 1 (red beads and green tatting on white ornament)

Note: You may prefer to needle tat this one, due to the beading necessary. However, it can be done with 2 shuttles, as I did.

String the beads as follows: 15 seed beads, drop bead, 5 more seed beads. Then take the thread back through the first 15 seed beads. Leaving a space of about 8 inches between beading groups, repeat the above 17 more times.

Ring A: 4 - 3 --- 3 - 4
chain a: 5 - 5
Ring B: 4 + (A3 or B3) 3 + (A2) 3 - 4
Repeat chain a and Ring B 3 times.
Repeat chain a once.
Ring C: 4 + (B3) 3 + (A2) 3 + (A1) 4
split chain b: 5 / 5
Split Ring D: 7 / 7

Move next group of beading into place, being careful not to get the tension too tight.

Split Ring E: 7 / 7

Move next group of beading into position in the thread wrapped around your hand for the next S2 Ring.

(S2) Ring F: 7 (move beads into position, being careful not to make the tension too tight) 7
Split Ring G: 7 / 7
Split Ring H: 7 + (next a1) / 7
Split Ring J: + (same a1) 7 / 7
Repeat Rings E through J, 5 times
Repeat Rings E through G once
Ring K: 7 + (b/D) 7

Cut, tie, hide ends. Attach Snowflake to bangle, or to ball with pins, as pictured.

Version 2 (White beads and white tatting on purple ornament)

String the beads as follows: 20 seed beads, drop bead, 20 more seed beads. Leaving a space of about 8 inches between beading groups, repeat the above 11 more times.

Ring A: 4 - 3 --- 3 - 4
chain a: 5 - 5
Ring B: 4 + (A3 or B3) 3 + (A2) 3 - 4
Repeat chain a and Ring B 3 times.
Repeat chain a once.
Ring C: 4 + (B3) 3 + (A2) 3 + (A1) 4
split chain b: 5 / 5

Here is the only difference from the original pattern, other than the beads. You need to make Ring K as an (S2) Ring of 7=7.

Move the next group of beads (20 seed, drop, 20 seed) into position, being careful not to get the tension too tight.


Split Ring D: 7 / 7
Split Ring E: 7 / 7

Move next group of bead (20 seed, drop, 20 seed) into position in the thread wrapped around your hand for the next S2 Ring.

(S2) Ring F: 7 (move beads into position, being careful not to make the tension too tight) 7.
Split Ring G: 7 / 7
Split Ring H: 7 + (next a1) / 7

Move the next group of beads (20, drop, 20) into position, being careful not to get the tension too tight.

Split Ring J: + (same a1) 7 / 7
Repeat Rings E through J, 5 times.
Repeat Rings E through G once, making the last Ring G as a true ring of 7 + (K1) 7.

Cut, tie, hide ends. Attach Snowflake to bangle, or to ball with pins, as pictured.
