There is one split ring in the pattern. Wind 2 shuttles or you can simply open the ring extra wide and do wrap the single split ring using the ball of thread.
#1 R 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 cl R leave a 4 DS space of thread (about ¼")
#2 R 3 + 3 - 3 - 3 cl R leave space
#3 R 4 ± 4 - 4 - 4 cl R leave space
#4 R 3 + 3 - 3 - 3 cl R leave space
#5, 6, 7 R 2 + 2 - 2 - 2 cl R do not leave a space of thread. You are now headed back toward the beginning.
W 4 ds over the space between rings 5 & 4. (If you do not wish to do wrap stitches, you may simply join to the thread space or leave another ¼" space and then do a join in the bottom of ring 4.)
#8 R 3 + 3 - 3 - 3 cl R
W 4 DS
#9 R 4 + 4 - 4 - 4 cl R
W 4 DS
#10 R 3 + 3 - 3 - 3 cl R
W 4 DS
#11 R 2 + 2 - 2 - 2 cl R do not leave space nor do any wrapping.
#12 SR 2 + 2 / 2 + 2 leave a mock picot and reverse work.
Insert magic thread (see class notes on the magic thread trick) into next chain.
