Happy Chick by Inger Kirstensen

Many thanks to Inger for sharing her happy chick with the online tatting class. This little chick has a hug for everyone!

Contact Inger Kirstensen. Visit her website for more lovely tatted patterns!

One punishment for an bad wife in medieval France was to make her chase a chicken through town naked. The source doesn't state whether it was the chicken or the wife who was naked

A special treat next Easter? Did you know that some breeds of chickens can lay colored eggs? Sure enough, the Ameraucana and Araucana can lay eggs colored in shades of green or blue, depending on the breed and it's ancestry.

Note from Inger: I am a trained nurse. I work in nursing homes and hospitals. In my spare time I do a lot of needlework, the last 10 years mainly tatting. Since last summer I have been studying all kinds of needlework at a teachers college. In a year or two I hope to work as a needlework-teacher. How I started tatting, I told on my website (www.orkis.dk.) From my mother-in-law I inherited a shuttle, but I did not know how to use it. I had it in a drawer for years, until an elderly woman taught me the first steps of tatting. I was exited and wanted to learn more. I read all the books of tatting from the local library ... and learned a lot more. Danish Tatting Association (DTA) has published some very good books and as a member of DTA you also recieve a magazine with ideas, techniques etc.( See more of my work at the website.) Best wishes, regards, Inger.
