Motif 2

B = bead
BJ = bead join (place a bead on picot before joining)
+ = join
-- = picot large enough to slip a bead over before attaching to next ring

Materials:
96 regular size Mill Hill beads (or equivalent)
Model worked in size 20 thread

Center and Round 1:

Place 42 beads on shuttle thread
Pull up 6 beads into first ring

R (1, B, small picot) 6 times, 1, close ring
Climb out of ring with a small mock picot
*CH (3, B) 3 times, 3 - 3 (B, 3) 3 times, shuttle join to next small picot in ring
Repeat from * 6 times.
End by attaching 6th chain to mock picot and finish off ends.

Round 2:

This round uses the Rhoda Auld method of adding beads (see diagram)

54 beads are used, but they are not strung on the shuttle threads.

R 3, B, 3 -- 5 + (to picot at top of chain on previous row) 5 -- 3, B, 3
*CH 7, B, 7
R 3, B, 3 + (with a BJ to picot on previous ring) 5, B, 5 -- 3, B, 3
CH 7, B, 7
R 3, B, 3 + (with a BJ to picot on previous ring) 5 + (to picot at top of chain on previous row) 5 -- 3, B, 3
Repeat from * around. Join last picot on last ring to first picot in round 2 with a BJ. Tie, cut and finish ends.
